The security guard was too annoying, and she felt the need to vent her frustrations, making sure he would have a rough time for a while. However, Tong was unaware that her curse was nonexistent.
At that moment, the security guard felt the protective talisman he wore close to his body warm slightly. He took it out and examined it carefully, finding nothing unusual, and then put it back with relief. This talisman was something he had bought from Master Ruan's shop, and he cherished it dearly.
As the guard continued to block a suspicious figure from entering the neighborhood, he couldn't help but hum a tune. After Tong temporarily left, she did not give up.
That night, she returned to the villa area where the Ruan family lived. This time, she had learned an invisibility technique and made her way through the villas until she stood before the Ruan family's gate. Looking at the entrance of their villa, Tong felt certain it looked exactly like what she had seen in her dreams before her death.
With a cold snort, she thought about how the Ruan family had managed to evade the bounty placed by the ghost last time. But this time, she would take matters into her own hands; the Ruan family wouldn’t be so lucky.
Moreover, Ruan Fuxi was the daughter of this family. Tong despised her, but since Sheng Yanzhou was protecting her, Tong couldn’t do anything to Fuxi for now. Instead, she decided to take out her anger on the Ruan family.
With that thought in mind, she attempted to slip into the Ruan family's garden using her invisibility technique. However, she didn’t expect that not only could she not enter, but she was also pushed back by an unseen force.
Standing outside, Tong studied the situation for a moment but couldn’t discern anything unusual. Her expression shifted between surprise and suspicion as she prepared to try again.
This time, she was very serious about it. Yet again, she was blocked from entering.
Frustrated, Tong unleashed an attack in retaliation. If she couldn’t get in, then perhaps destroying the Ruan family would suffice. The next second, Tong was taken aback.
Before she could react further, a powerful force struck her back and sent her flying. Her attack had not only failed to harm the Ruan family in any way but had instead rebounded on herself with double the force.
Tong spat out a mouthful of blood.
She sensed something was off with the Ruan family, but she was reluctant to leave just like that.
So, Tong stood up, preparing to see if there were any other places in the Ruan residence where she could take action. Meanwhile, far away, Ruan Fuxi noticed that the defenses she had set up around the Ruan family had been tampered with. Her expression instantly turned cold.
Ruan Fuxi quickly called her brother, Ruan Huai. When he answered the phone, he hadn’t even had time to feel happy before he heard her worried and icy voice:
"Big Brother, can you check if anyone is outside our house? Someone seems to be planning something against you."
Upon hearing this, Ruan Huai's expression immediately became serious.
"Don’t worry, Xiao Xi. I’ll check right now."
Not knowing the situation yet, he didn’t rush out but instead opened the surveillance feed at the entrance of their villa from his study. Just then, he caught a glimpse of a figure flashing past on the monitor.
Ruan Huai’s eyes sharpened as he rewound the footage. He watched the entire process unfold but couldn’t make out the person’s face; it seemed some trick had been used.
He then sent the footage to Ruan Fuxi.
"Xiao Xi, take a look at this."
Since he couldn’t see clearly, he was sure Xiao Xi would have a way to figure it out. Ruan Fuxi opened the surveillance video, and the illusion cast by the intruder was ineffective against her; she recognized them at a glance.
"Tong!"
