Everything was progressing smoothly, but a month ago, strange occurrences began to unfold.
At first, a batch of plants on the mountain suddenly withered and died, and the animals hiding in the woods started to appear frequently, becoming quite aggressive. Several people were injured as a result, but no one paid much attention to it. However, soon after, a thick miasma unexpectedly enveloped the roads, causing many workers to suffer from poisoning and slowing down the project significantly.
Tian Dao Chou Qin sighed deeply at this point; he couldn’t understand why he was so unlucky to encounter these issues so soon after starting work.
Once the workers had mostly recovered, the construction team resumed their tasks, but one bizarre incident after another continued to occur. The once smooth road suddenly became rugged and uneven, filled with potholes that made it difficult for both workers and vehicles to pass. Eventually, there were even reports of workers mysteriously getting lost in the mountains; according to them, no matter how they tried to navigate, they couldn’t find their way out of what had once been a clear path.
After recounting these events, Tian Dao Chou Qin looked hopefully at the screen.
“Master,” he said earnestly, “after careful consideration, I feel that all these incidents hint at something unusual. Do you think I’ve attracted some unclean entity? This project is extremely important to me; if it doesn’t go through, all the money I’ve earned over the years will be wasted!”
After listening to him, Ruan Fu Xi felt she had come to a conclusion.
“You haven’t attracted anything unclean; rather, you’ve angered a deity.”
Tian Dao Chou Qin was taken aback by her words.
“A deity? What deity? That’s impossible! I haven’t done anything wrong.” Although he was a businessman, he prided himself on being honest and upright; how could he have angered a deity? Moreover, in this day and age, did deities really exist?
The viewers in the live stream were also curious.
“Ruan Jie, are there really deities in this world? Do they truly protect us?”
Seeing this as an opportunity to enhance everyone’s reverence for Tian Dao and deities, Ruan Fu Xi replied confidently:
“Yes. Just because you haven’t seen them doesn’t mean they don’t exist. It’s important to maintain a respectful heart in daily life.”
Her words led to a significant increase in incense offerings at various temples in the following days. However, that was a matter for later.
Ruan Fu Xi then turned back to Tian Dao Chou Qin and asked:
“During your project’s construction process, did you happen to damage any temples?”
Tian Dao Chou Qin thought for a moment before recalling something from his memory; indeed, there was such an incident.
“Yes, yes! There was such a thing. At that time, the temple was right in the way of our planned road expansion. The temple looked somewhat dilapidated, so the construction team intended to tear it down. However, we were stopped by people from the village and ultimately didn’t demolish it; still, the outer wall of the temple was slightly damaged.”
Ruan Fuxi nodded.
"Then it's settled. That temple is the Mountain God Temple. If you disturb the mountain and damage their temple without offering an apology or repairing it, how could the Mountain God not be angered?"
Tiandao Chouqin felt a wave of fear wash over him upon hearing this. He slapped his thigh in realization.
"So that's what happened!"
With a pained expression, he continued, "Master, what should I do now? How can I appease the Mountain God? I really can't afford to lose this project!"
Ruan Fuxi replied, "There are ways to resolve this; it all depends on your sincerity."
Tiandao Chouqin looked determined, his voice firm. "Rest assured, Master! As long as we can solve this issue, I will definitely be sincere!"
Ruan Fuxi nodded. "Alright, I'll handle this matter. Please send me the address from your backend, and I'll go to the site to take a look."
Seeing that there was still hope for resolution, Tiandao Chouqin immediately felt overjoyed. "Master, I'll send it to you right away! Let me know when you're coming, and I'll pick you up!"
