Bai Tong cast a cold glance at Sun Fan.
The darkness between his brows signified an inescapable fate; unless he sought her help, he would undoubtedly die within seven days. Although the practice of metaphysics had waned and spiritual energy had diminished, some sects still preserved their cultivation manuals, including their own Bai Mountain Sect. This was one reason why Bai Mountain Sect held the top position among the various schools of metaphysics.
The man before her was enveloped in a heavy aura of negativity; it was clear he had attracted great misfortune. Bai Tong was confident that no one beneath her cultivation level could resolve his current predicament.
Upon hearing her words, Sun Fan felt a surge of rebelliousness rise within him.
"Hey, how can you talk like that? My great-grandmother is far more powerful than you! Why should I seek your help? You really have some nerve!"
His plea was directed towards his great-grandmother, who was the most formidable ally he could think of.
Though Sun Fan did not understand metaphysics, he knew how to seek support from those stronger than himself. His great-grandmother was the strongest figure he could rely on.
In that moment, filled with anxiety and fear, Sun Fan had no intention of lingering in the mountain villa any longer. Remembering how close he had come to death earlier, he disregarded any further argument with Bai Tong and quickly pulled the photographer along as they made their way down the mountain.
Before leaving, he couldn't resist throwing one last comment over his shoulder. "By the way, my great-grandmother is not only powerful but also looks like a fairy! Unlike you, who looks so ordinary."
With that, he exited the villa.
Bai Tong listened to his taunting words, her expression darkening as she prepared to take action.
Zhou Yi looked over curiously. "Daoist Bai, what are you planning to do?"
She sensed that the Daoist before her was in a foul mood; was she really going to cast a spell on an ordinary person?
Zhou Yi frowned at the thought. Although this man spoke rather harshly and seemed somewhat abrasive, he hadn’t actually insulted or cursed her. What warranted such a reaction from Bai Tong?
If everyone in the metaphysical community acted against ordinary people based on personal preferences, how were they any different from evil cultivators? It would only lead to their downfall in due time.
Zhou Yi pondered for a moment on Monday, feeling no inclination to continue the conversation with the person before her. Although the other party was from the Bai Shan Sect, she found them unappealing and deemed it unnecessary to delve deeper.
She decided that once the issues at the Half-Mountain Villa were resolved, she would cease all interactions with this individual.
Bai Tong sensed Zhou Yi's gaze and reluctantly halted her actions. "No, let’s go in," she said. Now that she was outside the sect, she could not act freely.
Zhou Yi said nothing further and followed her into the villa. After surveying the interior, Bai Tong remarked, "Such heavy yin energy; no wonder no one can live here."
After taking a look around, Zhou Yi also formed her own conclusions. "What does Daoist Bai think?"
Bai Tong replied confidently, "The villa is built over a graveyard that dates back over two hundred years. The souls buried here died unjustly and are filled with resentment, unwilling to reincarnate. After the villa was constructed, it disturbed these spirits. Coupled with the presence of the yin trees in the courtyard—namely, the locust and banyan trees—it’s no surprise that this place is haunted."
She continued, "Moreover, the deaths that occurred within the villa have not led to any souls moving on, which only intensifies the yin energy."
Zhou Yi glanced around the villa again and nodded. "Daoist Bai is impressive."
It was evident that Bai Tong could pinpoint these issues at a glance; indeed, she was more adept than Zhou Yi herself.
For some reason, Zhou Yi suddenly thought of Ruan Fuxi. She wondered if Fuxi would have been able to identify the problems here even faster.
Lost in thought for a moment, Zhou Yi then asked, "What do you plan to do next?"
Bai Tong looked at the ghosts within the villa with an indifferent expression. "Those who linger in this world must be eliminated."
Zhou Yi frowned upon hearing this. "Isn’t that a bit too cruel?"
In her view, it should be sufficient to perform a ritual to guide them to the afterlife. If there were spirits that harmed lives, it would not be wrong to eliminate them. However, those who were merely trapped here and unable to reincarnate could not be judged in the same way.
