Sun Fan felt increasingly cold sitting on the sofa. After a moment of hesitation, he decided to set aside the pillow he had been holding, feeling a nagging discomfort in his heart.
He then stood up and addressed the viewers in the streaming room: "I heard that someone died unexpectedly in this villa before we moved in. Let's go check out the scene."
The viewers in the stream became excited, driven by curiosity and eager to engage.
"The host has some guts; here’s a rocket to boost your spirits!"
"Let’s head upstairs; I heard someone hanged themselves in the master bedroom."
As Sun Fan received the donations, his expression grew more animated. He led the cameraman upstairs. "Let’s go take a look."
Pushing open the door to the master bedroom, darkness enveloped the room. Just as Sun Fan reached for the wall, about to flip the switch, the lights began to flicker on their own.
His heart skipped a beat.
The viewers, however, assumed he had turned on the lights.
"Hey, there’s something wrong with this room's lights; they keep flickering."
"It hasn’t been lived in for a long time; it’s normal for things to be a bit off."
"I see a rope hanging from the cabinet. Could it be left over from when someone hanged themselves?"
"Donate a carnival to the host! Go try that rope and see how they died."
Sun Fan noticed that comment but chose to ignore it. A carnival donation? He had no intention of trying it out. After all, it was a rope that had been associated with death; even if there were no ghosts in this world, he still felt it was bad luck.
The viewer who donated for the carnival saw that he hadn’t moved and quickly sent five more donations.
"Come on, host! Go give it a try; are you scared?"
"You’ve got a cameraman with you; what’s there to be afraid of?"
Sun Fan looked at the tens of thousands in donations and those words, hesitating for a moment.
His ability to attract so many fans was largely due to his boldness. If he didn't dare to try new things, wouldn't he risk losing followers? Moreover, this fan had even given him a generous tip.
After pondering for a moment, Sun Fan made up his mind. "Then I'll give it a try."
He approached the wardrobe and looped the rope around his neck, casually saying, "This rope isn't very long, and the danger isn't too great. I'm curious—has anyone really committed suicide with this rope? It must be a rumor."
Before he could finish his sentence, the rope tightened around his neck, cutting off his words and leaving him gasping for breath.
"Ah! Ah!"
The crowd stood frozen in shock at the sudden turn of events, momentarily unable to react. Sun Fan struggled to reach out, grabbing the clothing of a nearby cameraman.
The cameraman snapped back to reality, hurriedly putting down his equipment to help Sun Fan untie the rope. But no matter how hard he tried, the rope wouldn’t budge; it only seemed to tighten further.
Sun Fan couldn't utter a single word, only managing to emit strained sounds from his throat as his face turned red from lack of air. The cameraman was on the verge of tears; despite exerting all his strength, the rope felt as unyielding as steel welded around Sun Fan's neck.
Worried that Sun Fan might actually suffocate, he quickly pulled out his phone to call for help but realized there was no signal. He looked up in disbelief at the live broadcast still running smoothly, unaffected by the interruption.
Desperately addressing the viewers in the broadcast room, he shouted, "Friends in the broadcast room, please call the police and an ambulance! I can't get this rope off!"
Without waiting for any response from the viewers, he pulled a knife from his bag and began cutting at the rope frantically.
