"Brother Sun, it's a bit cold in here," one of them remarked.
Sun Fan shrugged it off. "We're on a mountain, and it's late. It's normal for the temperature to drop. You’ve even slept in a graveyard with me before, so what’s there to be afraid of?"
Upon hearing this, the other person fell silent.
They were in a large courtyard filled with numerous trees. These trees were tall and lush, growing wildly without any care, their branches sprawling haphazardly, and the ground was covered with fallen leaves.
Noticing the trees, Sun Fan casually asked, "Brothers in the livestream, these trees look pretty good, right? With no canopy overhead in this courtyard, it must be quite cool."
Ruan Fuxi chuckled softly at his comment. Her fans immediately perked up.
"Ruan Jie, is there something wrong with these trees?"
"I knew things weren't simple when Ruan Jie smiled."
"Get the small stool ready! Ruan Jie, start your lesson!"
Ruan Fuxi's voice rang out: "These trees are locust trees; some of you might recognize them."
The viewers in Sun Fan's livestream expressed their dissatisfaction.
"So what if they’re locust trees? What’s so funny about that?"
Ruan Fuxi continued, "If you break down the character for 'locust,' it consists of 'wood' and 'ghost.' In terms of feng shui, it belongs to the yin category, which means it has heavy yin energy and can easily attract spirits."
"No wonder this villa is haunted; it’s planted with so many locust trees," one viewer commented.
Sun Fan caught Ruan Fuxi's words and retorted, "But there are other trees in this courtyard too."
Ruan Fuxi raised an eyebrow. "Are you talking about those banyan trees?"
Sun Fan didn’t sense anything amiss and replied directly, "Yeah."
Ruan Fuxi smiled again. The banyan tree was one of the most ominous trees, often a common haunt for ghosts and malevolent spirits. Ruan Fuxi thought that the person who built this villa must not have consulted a feng shui master. Or perhaps the feng shui master they did consult had a grudge against them and was deliberately causing trouble.
Sun Fan dismissed her concerns. "That's all just folklore. I don't believe in that nonsense about yin energy attracting ghosts." He continued forward with the camera, passing by a swimming pool.
Ruan Fuxi felt compelled to remind him once more. "You can still turn back now." She could see the ghost clinging to Sun Fan's back, its blood-red tongue licking his neck.
Sun Fan ignored her. "I've come this far; I have to see the whole villa before I leave." Then he muttered to himself, "Strange, why do I feel a bit heavy on my back? I must be tired from these past few days. And my neck feels chilly—did I catch a draft?"
Hearing this, Ruan Fuxi wanted to say that if you don’t court death, you won’t die. But she refrained from advising him; it was hard to reason with someone who was asking for trouble.
As Sun Fan passed by the swimming pool, which still held water, he noticed a layer of silt at the bottom, along with some water plants and lotus flowers. He walked over to the pool and crouched down to wash his hands.
"Everyone look! Where's the ghost? I'm just washing my hands," he said to the viewers in the live stream.
The viewers instantly felt chills run down their spines. "Run away, broadcaster!"
