Ruan Anmu looked at Fu Sichan as well.
Fu Sichan reached out and gently patted her head, smiling, "I won't leave either; I'll stay with you."
Ruan Anmu was caught off guard by the gesture, especially since they were outside. Her cheeks flushed slightly, and she shot Fu Sichan a glare.
Then she composed herself and said, "Let's head over to the house first."
Ruan Fuxi nodded, and the four of them got into their respective cars.
Following Ruan Anmu's directions, they soon arrived in front of a small courtyard.
Ruan Anmu got out of the car and remarked, "I haven't been here in many years, and I haven't kept in touch with the He family. I don't know if my uncle still lives here."
As she gazed at the courtyard, nostalgia filled her eyes. This was where she had spent a wonderfully happy childhood. But time had changed everything; the courtyard remained the same, yet her parents were no longer around.
A wall surrounded the courtyard, and an iron gate blocked the view inside.
Ruan Anmu stepped forward and knocked on the door.
"Who is it? It's the middle of the day; can't anyone get some rest?" a middle-aged woman's voice called out from inside.
Moments later, the door swung open.
Upon seeing the four well-dressed individuals standing outside, the woman's scolding tone immediately vanished.
The middle-aged woman hesitated for a moment before saying, "Excuse me, are you looking for someone? I don't think I know anyone as distinguished as you all."
However, Ruan Anmu recognized her at once and called out in a neutral tone:
"Little Aunt, it's An Mu."
The woman squinted her eyes, pondering for a moment before recognition dawned on her.
"Oh, An Mu! You've grown up and become quite beautiful. Are you here to reconnect with your little uncle?"
She surveyed the four individuals around her, then donned a warm smile. This girl had grown up so well and looked wealthy; surely, if she reconnected with the family, they would benefit in some way.
An Mu's expression remained indifferent. She still remembered the scene from years ago when her uncle and aunt had taken away her parents' money and property. Moreover, after all these years in the welfare home, not a single member of the He family had come to see her. There was no way she would reconnect with them.
"Is it my uncle's place? I need to find him."
The woman tested the waters with a hint of curiosity. "An Mu, what do you need your little uncle for? He hasn't come back from work yet."
An Mu replied, "Does he have to work on Sundays too?"
Her uncle had always been lazy; it was hard to believe he would be diligent enough to work even on a Sunday.
The woman chuckled awkwardly, patting her head. "Look at my memory! I'll give your little uncle a call."
She then stepped aside and invited, "An Mu, why don't you come in and sit for a while? These must be your friends."
An Mu walked in first, remaining silent. The woman frowned slightly at her lack of conversation.
"This stubborn girl, not saying a word," she muttered before turning to go into the room to call her husband.
"Honey, your cheap niece is here—it's Ruan Anmu, the daughter of Ruan Changlin! She looks like she's doing well. How about you bring your sister along?"
