Yuqin decided to stop giving gifts and transferring money to herself. She wondered if the talisman she had placed inside Huang Jian's phone case had malfunctioned, but she hadn't even had a chance to see him in the past few days.
She felt a growing sense of urgency. A nagging premonition tugged at her, prompting her to call Yuantian. However, the phone rang and rang, yet no one picked up. Her unease intensified; why wasn't Master Yuantian answering her calls?
Just then, Huang Jian walked in with a cold expression. Yuqin quickly put on a look of grievance, approaching him with reddened eyes and a soft voice. "Brother Huang, have I done something wrong lately? Why are you ignoring me?"
Seeing her approach, Huang Jian immediately distanced himself from her, his face clearly displaying disdain. "Don't touch me."
He used to find her innocent demeanor charming, but now it disgusted him. After spending so much money on her, she was secretly plotting against him. It felt like he had raised a white-eyed wolf.
If it weren't for the fact that he hadn't yet consulted Master Ruan about whether there were other issues with Yuqin, he would have kicked her out long ago.
Yuqin's face showed a flash of disbelief as tears welled up in her eyes. But Huang Jian was no longer fooled by her act; he even frowned at her.
However, remembering the purpose of his visit today, Huang Jian turned and donned a respectful smile as Ruan Fuxi entered the room. "Master Ruan, I appreciate your help today."
Yuqin froze for a moment upon seeing Ruan Fuxi, then furrowed her brow and was about to shout out loud. Huang Jian shot her a glare. "This is Master Ruan whom I invited. You better show some respect; otherwise, I won't hesitate to kick you out right now."
Watching the man she despised treat Ruan Fuxi with such deference struck Yuqin like a blow, but hearing Huang Jian's words forced her to grit her teeth and close her mouth.
Ruan Fuxi cast a light glance at Yu Qi before shifting her gaze away.
Yu Qi was infuriated by that glance, nearly losing her temper. What kind of look was that from Ruan Fuxi? Who did she think she was to look down on her? If it weren't for her, how could she have ended up in this situation?
Huang Jian stood behind Ruan Fuxi at that moment. "Master Ruan, could you please check if there are any other issues around me? Also, is there anything in this house that shouldn't be here?"
Ruan Fuxi surveyed the house and then shook her head. "No."
She recalled that Huang Jian had mentioned coming to see him the day after he had flagged down a car for her, but it had been delayed. It was only after receiving Huang Jian's cautious phone call earlier that she remembered to come.
Seeing his genuine concern, Ruan Fuxi added, "Don't worry. As long as that talisman is gone, you won't have any problems. If you're really worried, just do more good deeds to accumulate virtue for yourself. As for the luck that was siphoned away, part of it has already been taken by the person with the talisman; I can only return what hasn't been transferred yet."
Huang Jian nodded eagerly. "Understood."
At this moment, Yu Qi furrowed her brows again, unable to resist interjecting. "Talisman? What talisman?"
Upon hearing this, Yu Qi's heart began to race with growing unease as her suspicions deepened.
Ruan Fuxi looked at her with a half-smile. "What talisman? Aren't you already aware? After all, you were the one who placed the phone there yourself."
Yu Qi's expression changed drastically at those words. She glanced at Huang Jian and saw his darkened face fixed on her.
"I don't understand what you're saying," Yu Qi quickly denied.
She knew she absolutely could not admit to anything; otherwise, Huang Jian would surely not let her off the hook.
Ruan Fuxi merely curled her lips into a smile and said nothing further.
Huang Jian asked, "Master Ruan, what should I do to claim the fortune that belongs to me?"
