By the time the sun rose, Qi Hui's expression had turned quite grim.
"Enough waiting, let's go now!"
Yuan Tian would never abandon his nephew, Gong Changshun. No matter what situation arose, he would surely inform them and would never just disappear without a word. Unless, of course, Yuan Tian was unable to return.
Gong Changshun sensed something was amiss and immediately grabbed Li before heading for the door.
As soon as the door opened, he saw Gong Changle standing outside. His pupils constricted, and he instinctively tried to close the door again.
Gong Changle propped one leg against the door and smiled. "Where are you off to?"
Qi Hui was surprised to see him, and several thoughts flashed through her mind. She stepped forward and said, "Changle, your father and I have divorced. I'm taking your brother away from Beijing. Please step aside."
Gong Changle scoffed. "I don't have a brother."
Without giving them a chance to respond, he stepped aside and gestured to the people behind him. "Take them away."
Qi Hui and Gong Changshun panicked. "Where are you taking us?"
Qi Hui wanted to scream, but she didn't get the chance. They were both knocked unconscious alongside Gong Changshun.
Gong Changle immediately led them to a car and drove off to another residence of the Gong family. The ancestors had said that changing fate should not be delayed; the sooner, the better.
Fortunately, the ancestors had reminded him; otherwise, if he had arrived even a moment later, Qi Hui would have truly escaped with them. By the time Gong Changle brought them along, his father was already waiting.
Gong Changle had someone bring Qi Hui and the others down, then looked around and asked, "Dad, where's our ancestor?"
Gong Le's eyelid twitched, but he didn't stop his son from calling Ruan Fuxi "ancestor." What could he do with such a foolish son? Besides, Miss Ruan was indeed impressive; she had saved both him and Changle.
At this moment, Gong Le had already realized that Yuan Tian had cast a curse on him, and he had nearly died because of it. Just as he was about to speak, Ruan Fuxi's voice came through.
"I'm here."
She glanced at the unconscious Gong Changshun without much reaction. "Prepare a room. Let's get started right away; I'll help you reclaim your life essence."
Gong Changle was overjoyed upon hearing this. "Ancestor, you're the best! I'm all set!" He felt he had been through enough bad luck lately. It was time for Gong Changshun to have some misfortune of his own.
In the room, Gong Changle lay on the bed with his eyes closed, following Ruan Fuxi's instructions. He wanted to feel how his ancestor would help him reclaim his life essence, but for some reason, he suddenly fell asleep.
Ruan Fuxi did not delay; she recited the secret incantation while her hands moved swiftly. A golden light appeared above Gong Changshun's head, while a dim gray light floated above Gong Changle's head. She grasped both lights and executed a series of hand seals, causing the two lights to exchange positions.
The golden light entered Gong Changle's body, while the dim light returned to Gong Changshun. The life essence had been successfully exchanged.
When Gong Changle awoke, only he and Gong Changshun remained in the room. He stepped outside and saw his father speaking respectfully to their ancestor.
"Ancestor, Dad."
Ruan Fuxi glanced at him. "Your fate has already returned to you. I will take my leave now."
