Gong Changle knew he was having a particularly bad day; he had never felt this unlucky before. Standing outside the villa area where the Ruan family lived, he was so agitated that he almost jumped up and down.
He limped closer, but was stopped by the security guard at the entrance.
"Stop! Who are you?"
The residents inside were either wealthy or influential, and the guard couldn't afford to be careless. If he let someone in who shouldn't be there, he would lose his job.
Gong Changle glared at him. "How dare you stop me! Do you know who I am?"
The guard glanced at him briefly. With his bright red hair, wrinkled clothes, and a bandage on his face, not to mention his limping gait, it was clear he didn't look like a good person.
Gong Changle felt his face flush with anger at the guard's judgment and was about to argue back.
The guard handed him a registration book. "You're not a resident, are you? Are you here to see someone or what?"
Gong Changle huffed. "I'm looking for someone."
Someone who could save his life.
He glanced down at the book and suddenly froze. He had no idea which house his ancestor lived in; all he knew was that it was somewhere in this villa area.
Seeing him hesitate to fill it out, the guard grew more suspicious. This guy couldn't really be here to cause trouble, could he?
Gong Changle noticed the guard's wary gaze and exploded with frustration. "What do you mean by that look!"
The guard maintained his professionalism. "Sir, if you don't register, you can call your friend to come get you."
Gong Changle was at a loss; he didn't have Ruan Fuxi's number.
Just as he hesitated between forcing his way in or just giving up, Butler Wang approached the entrance and addressed him directly. "Are you Mr. Gong Changle?"
Gong Changle nodded.
"Do you know me? Perfect timing to take me inside," he said.
Butler Wang smiled politely. "I’m here to pick you up."
Curious, Gong Changle followed Butler Wang and asked, "Who sent you to pick me up? Was it my ancestor?"
Butler Wang looked puzzled and asked seriously, "Who is your ancestor? Miss Xi sent me to the door to meet you."
Upon hearing this, Gong Changle became excited. "Miss Xi? Is she Ruan Fuxi?"
Butler Wang observed his not-so-bright expression and subtly stepped back a little. "Yes."
With a sudden burst of energy, Gong Changle jumped up. "That’s right! She is my ancestor!"
The corner of Butler Wang's mouth twitched slightly. "Whose foolish son has run out?"
Once they entered the Ruan residence, Gong Changle immediately spotted Ruan Fuxi sitting on the sofa. Without waiting for Butler Wang to say anything, he slid down to his knees in front of her, his eyes filled with excitement and turning red.
"Ancestor!"
Ruan Fuxi looked a bit disdainful. "Did your father have someone shut down my livestream?"
Gong Changle broke into a cold sweat at her words. It was indeed his father’s people who had done it, and there was nothing he could do about it. His father never listened to him.
Pouting slightly, Gong Changle felt like crying. "Ancestor, it was my dad who did it. I’ll call him right now and have him lift the ban."
As he spoke, he took out his phone.
Ruan Fuxi said, "Stop calling; he won't answer."
Gong Changle, not believing that his father wouldn't pick up the phone, dialed again.
