Lin Rou was taken aback by the revelation. She never expected it to be her! The other party was a senior, a well-respected veteran actress. Lin Rou had considered that it might be an actress from a competing agency or a supporting role, but she never imagined that this person would target her.
However, since Xiao Xi had said it, there was no doubt about it. After her initial shock, Lin Rou immediately left with her two assistants.
Ruan Fu Xi sighed as she looked at the vengeful spirit floating nearby. What a pity. She continued to cleanse the resentment lingering on the ghost.
When Lin Rou and her assistants returned with the finger bone, they were once again stunned by the sight of the ghostly face hovering in the air. The ghost, which had been covered in blood before they left, now revealed a delicate visage; its hair had transformed from bright red to black, and limbs had sprouted.
If they hadn't witnessed the transformation with their own eyes, they might have mistaken this ghost for a living person.
Ruan Fu Xi nodded as they returned. With the absence of the finger bone from the person behind them, the cleansing process went smoothly, allowing the ghost to revert to its appearance in life.
The ghost had regained its intelligence and recalled how it had died in its past life. It realized that it had sought revenge on the wrong person. Looking at Lin Rou, it felt a twinge of regret.
"I'm sorry," it seemed to say. "You weren't the one I intended to take revenge on."
Lin Rou felt a chill run down her spine as she watched a ghost apologize to her. Although it resembled a human, it was still a spirit after all. She forced out a couple of nervous laughs. "No, no."
Ruan Fu Xi took the finger bone from Lin Rou's hand and addressed the ghost, Zhao Xiao Yu: "You can rest easy and move on. I promise you that those who harmed you will pay for their actions, but your hands must remain free of blood."
Zhao Xiaoyu had regained her sanity, but deep down, she still felt unwilling to accept her fate. She couldn't bear the thought of dying so tragically and then becoming a vengeful spirit used by others. She wanted to witness the downfall of those responsible for her suffering.
"Master, I don't want to leave just yet," she pleaded.
Ruan Fuxi sighed. "You are already a soul of the underworld; staying in the mortal realm is futile."
Zhao Xiaoyu begged, "Please, Master, let me stay a little longer. I promise I will reincarnate as soon as I see their downfall."
Seeing her determination, Ruan Fuxi reluctantly agreed. If she still had attachments, then perhaps it was worth waiting a bit longer.
Once Zhao Xiaoyu received her consent, a smile broke across her face. "Thank you, Master."
Ruan Fuxi took out a piece of jade for her to temporarily inhabit. Understanding the gesture, Zhao Xiaoyu swiftly entered the jade.
Lin Rou, noticing the sudden disappearance of Zhao Xiaoyu, stepped forward to ask, "Xiaoxi, is it resolved?"
Ruan Fuxi nodded at her. "It's done. You can sleep peacefully at night from now on."
With Ruan Fuxi's confirmation, Lin Rou finally felt relieved. Curiosity soon took over as she asked, "Xiaoxi, what was the situation with that ghost? Was she murdered? Why did she seek revenge on me?"
Facing Lin Rou's inquisitive gaze, Ruan Fuxi pondered for a moment before responding, "There's no point in telling you."
Lin Rou and her two assistants immediately lit up with excitement at her words. "Sister Ruan, we want to hear!"
