Upon seeing Ruan Fuxi and Ruan Xun, Ruan Jili and the others immediately approached. However, when Ruan Jili noticed Ruan Fuxi holding hands with Sheng Yanzhou, his smile faltered for a moment; no matter how he looked at it, he found it displeasing.
Ruan Xun fully understood his father's feelings, as he had also found Sheng Yanzhou unlikable since last night. He did not deny that Sheng Yanzhou was an exceptionally successful entrepreneur, but that didn’t justify him stealing away his sister.
Ruan Xun was determined not to let anyone take his sister away from him.
At that moment, Ruan Fuxi released Sheng Yanzhou's hand and stepped forward a few paces, saying, "Dad, Mom, Big Brother, Anmu, you all came!"
Sheng Yanzhou, being quite the gentleman, greeted them politely, "Uncle, Aunt."
Seeing that his daughter liked him, Ruan Jili exchanged a few pleasantries with Sheng Yanzhou. Then he turned to Ruan Fuxi and Ruan Xun and said, "You two have worked hard on the program; go home and rest."
Just as Ruan Fuxi was about to mention that she needed to make a stop at the market first, Su Shi walked over and said, "Uncle Ruan, Fuxi might need to go with me for a bit; she'll come back later."
Ruan Jili didn't know Su Shi before but had recently become acquainted with him because Su Shi had come to the Ruan household asking when Fuxi would return. It was for this reason that Ruan Jili recognized him. He assumed that Su Shi must have some metaphysical issues to discuss with Fuxi and replied, "Since you've spoken to Fuxi about it, then go ahead."
After thanking him, Su Shi turned to Sheng Yanzhou and said, "Yanzhou, are you heading back to the company later? By the way, I haven't congratulated you on your successful acquisition yet."
Sheng Yanzhou glanced at his assistant approaching from a distance and then at the watchful Ruan family members. He replied, "I'll head back to the company first."
Su Shi nodded. After the Ruan family helped Ruan Xun into the car, he invited Ruan Fu Xi to join him. Just as he was about to start the engine, he saw Sheng Yan Zhou striding over and opening the back door to sit down.
He was a bit surprised. "Yan Zhou, didn’t you say you were going back to the company?"
Sheng Yan Zhou raised an eyebrow. "I changed my mind." He had said that earlier just to ease the Ruan family's wariness towards him. Now that they were driving away, it was only natural for him to come along.
Then Sheng Yan Zhou asked, "Where are you taking Fu Xi?"
Su Shi started the car and replied, "To the South Gate Market. It's been problematic there lately. I've had people check it out a few times, but it hasn’t helped. I can only ask Fu Xi for assistance."
Sheng Yan Zhou nodded. He planned to accompany Fu Xi in resolving the issue before heading back to the company.
The three of them arrived at the South Gate Market, and Su Shi parked the car steadily outside. As Ruan Fu Xi opened the door and stepped out, she immediately sensed the lingering resentment in the area.
She sighed, "After all these years, the resentment here hasn’t faded at all."
Although Sheng Yan Zhou had some cultivation, his knowledge of metaphysics was still limited. He quietly stood beside Ruan Fu Xi.
Su Shi expressed his concern. "When I had someone check this place before, they also mentioned that there was resentment here. The market used to be a site for executions, so it's understandable that there would be lingering feelings. Fu Xi, can you see if there's any way to resolve this? We really can’t afford any more incidents here."
Ruan Fu Xi asked him, "What did the person you consulted say before?"
Su Shi replied, "It was similar to what I just told you. They performed a few rituals and then left, but the results weren’t very effective. Do you have any ideas at this point?"
