Yuan Hua was momentarily stunned, as if struck by something, her mind blank.
She suddenly recalled that after giving birth, she had been so exhausted that she fell asleep without even seeing whether her child was a boy or a girl. When she woke up, the doctor and nurses were no longer around; it was her husband who told her they had a son. Soon after, he arranged for her discharge.
"This is a lot to take in," she thought.
"Oh my gosh, it seems this sister's husband isn't innocent at all."
"The son is her husband's, but not hers. At first, I thought the hospital had made a mistake, but it looks like her husband did this on purpose."
As Yuan Hua came back to her senses, her expression darkened. "Xiao Xi, are you saying my husband deliberately swapped my daughter? But why would he do such a thing?"
Ruan Fu Xi replied, "So you could provide better living and educational conditions for the child."
Yuan Hua's face grew even more troubled. This was indeed true. Everything she and her husband worked hard for was to give their child better opportunities. She had saved everything good for the child, not even buying herself jewelry.
She murmured, "I met my husband in college; why would he do this?"
Yuan Hua knew that since he already had a child outside, he must have been unfaithful for over ten years. The realization that she hadn’t noticed anything was terrifying!
Ruan Fu Xi said, "You met your husband in college, but before that, he had a first love with whom he shared a strong bond. You were an only child from the city and didn’t demand a bride price or a house; marrying you was simply more advantageous than marrying his first love."
Yuan Hua recognized Ruan Fu Xi's insight once again. "Xiao Xi, does that child know I’m not his biological mother?"
Ruan Fu Xi sighed softly. "He knows. Recently, has that boy's temper changed? He wants you to leave this home so his real mother can move in."
Yuan Hua felt her heart sink. She had devoted herself to that child without reservation, yet he showed no gratitude and even wanted to drive her away.
No wonder he has been asking himself lately if he could get a divorce. Yuan Hua thought he was joking, but it turned out to be the truth. She scoffed inwardly; after raising such an ungrateful person, now that she knew the truth, she would definitely not let them have it easy.
The pressing matter at hand was to find her biological daughter as soon as possible. With this thought in mind, Yuan Hua anxiously asked, "Xiao Xi, do you know where my biological daughter is? And what about that mistress? Has she and my husband been in contact all this time?"
Ruan Fu Xi reminded her, "Think about it—who has your husband and son been closest to recently? Your daughter is likely with that person."
Yuan Hua furrowed her brows. There didn’t seem to be anyone special lately, nor had she seen them getting close to anyone.
Just as she was about to ask more, something suddenly clicked in her mind. Recently, her husband mentioned that their son was struggling with English and wanted to hire a tutor for extra lessons. That tutor was a woman, similar in age to herself.
Every time that female tutor came over for lessons, Yuan Hua felt that the two of them got along particularly well. At first, she thought it was just the teacher's charm, but now it seemed there was more to it than that.
No wonder their relationship was so good!
Thinking back on her own conversations with that female tutor, Yuan Hua realized that the woman's words had often seemed strange and her expressions odd, exuding a sense of triumph as if she were a winner.
In the past, Yuan Hua hadn’t thought much of it, but now it struck her—this mistress had already stepped into her home and was flaunting her presence while she had acted like a fool.
