The next morning, Ruan Fuxi came downstairs and found a man of similar age sitting across from her brother.
"Brother, do we have a guest?" Ruan Fuxi greeted.
Ruan Huai looked relaxed, but his gaze was sharp as he spoke to the man across from him.
"Mr. Shi, although Fuxi is still young and usually well-behaved, I don't believe she would bully your sister," Ruan Huai said.
Shi Wei's mouth twitched slightly. Although he didn't often interact with the Ruan family, he had heard about their daughter’s reputation—spoiled, willful, and foolishly infatuated.
It seemed that Ruan Huai genuinely cherished his younger sister, Ruan Fuxi.
Just as Shi Wei was about to say something more, he noticed Ruan Huai's expression soften as he turned to Ruan Fuxi, who had just come downstairs.
"Xiao Xi is up; let’s go have breakfast," he said warmly.
Ruan Fuxi nodded and took her pet turtle with her to the dining room.
Shi Wei observed Ruan Fuxi's momentarily stunning appearance and thought for a moment before speaking.
"Mr. Ruan, Lily was stuck on a small road for several hours yesterday. You know how much our old man adores her. She said it was Miss Ruan's doing. I think there might be some misunderstanding here; perhaps I could discuss it with Miss Ruan to clarify."
Ruan Huai smiled lightly. "Of course, that’s fine. After Xiao Xi finishes her breakfast, I’ll ask her about it. So for now, just wait."
Shi Wei sensed his intention and took a sip of tea. "Understood."
Once Ruan Fuxi finished her breakfast, Ruan Huai gently said, "Xiao Xi, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Shi; he has some matters he’d like to discuss with you."
Ruan Fuxi settled onto the sofa with her turtle in her arms and looked at the man across from her with a somewhat curious expression.
Shi Wei was polite and did not come on too strong. "Miss Ruan, my name is Shi Wei, and I am Shi Lily's older brother."
Ruan Fuxi nodded.
What did Mr. Shi want to understand about me?
Shi Wei repeated what Ruan Lili had told him, then said, "Miss Ruan, I would like to know if there is some misunderstanding between you and Lili."
Ruan Fuxi was surprised. So it was her in that car. She had been too busy admiring Sheng Yanzhou's face at the time; if she had known it was Shi Lili, she would have added another bad luck talisman.
She nodded, "That's right, it was me. Yanzhou noticed someone was following him, so I just held the person back for a moment."
Before Shi Wei could respond, Ruan Huai's radar for her brother suddenly went off at the mention of Yanzhou.
Yanzhou? Sheng Yanzhou? When did Xiao Xi become so familiar with him?
Shi Wei had expected her to deny it, but was taken aback when she admitted it directly, leaving him momentarily at a loss for words.
After a moment of thought, he concluded that this situation was indeed Lili's fault for being discovered while following him; Miss Ruan wasn't doing it on purpose. If Miss Ruan had known it was Lili, she probably wouldn't have acted that way.
With these thoughts swirling in his mind, Shi Wei finally said, "Then it's a misunderstanding. I apologize for interrupting you and Miss Ruan today. I'll treat both of you to dinner another day. I’ll take my leave now."
After saying this, he stood up and prepared to leave.
However, Ruan Fuxi looked at him for a moment and said with interest, "Mr. Shi, I haven't cast my first divination today yet. I wonder if you're interested."
