Ruan Fuxi looked up at the sky.
"I have my own methods, but I still need to confirm a few things. If it works out, we can discuss it together later," she said.
Qian Biyang hesitated, considering that the person in front of him was knowledgeable and skilled, and even the turtles they raised might be more impressive than them. What they couldn't achieve, perhaps Ruan could.
He nodded. "Then we'll wait for news from you and Sheng Xian."
Ruan Fuxi glanced at the time; it was getting late, and she should head home to sleep. Turning to Old Master Sheng, she said, "Uncle Sheng, since Yan Zhou's leg has recovered, I’ll take my leave now."
Upon hearing this, Old Master Sheng immediately had someone bring over a box. "Fuxi, this is a token of gratitude from your uncle."
Before Ruan Fuxi could refuse, he pressed it into her hands and prepared to see her out.
Sheng Yanzhou spoke up, "Dad, you should go rest now. Butler Jin has arranged accommodations for the masters; I'll take Fuxi home."
Old Master Sheng paused for a moment and teased him with a glance. He thought to himself that the brat was only saying all that to get to his last point.
With that in mind, he immediately put on a weary expression. "My old bones can't handle too much fuss; I'm feeling a bit tired. Since it's late, let the masters stay at Sheng's residence tonight."
Then he kindly said to Ruan Fuxi, "Fuxi, let Yan Zhou escort you."
Ruan Fuxi nodded.
"Ah."
When they reached the entrance of the estate, Ruan Fuxi stopped first. "Yan Zhou, I can drive back myself."
Sheng Yanzhou wanted to say that he would drive her, but suddenly remembered that he had not obtained his driver's license due to his disability, so he swallowed those words back down. He didn't want to give up the chance to spend more time together, so after a moment of hesitation, he said, "I'll have the driver take you."
Ruan Fuxi blinked. "But I drove here myself."
Sheng Yanzhou thought for a long time but couldn't come up with a convincing reason. In the end, he simply stated, "You must be very tired and mentally drained from working hard to help me recover my legs today. It’s safer for me to send you."
Hearing this flimsy excuse, Ruan Fuxi wanted to laugh, but she maintained a thoughtful expression. Sheng Yanzhou felt a bit nervous.
"You make a good point. Then I’ll trouble you to have the driver take me," she replied.
When the driver arrived, he assumed there was some urgent company matter to attend to, but was stunned when he saw Sheng Yanzhou.
"When did President Sheng manage to stand up?"
The driver rubbed his eyes, trying to determine if this was really President Sheng or perhaps one of his brothers. It wasn't until Sheng Yanzhou's deep voice commanded, "Drive," that the driver snapped back to reality and confirmed that this was indeed his boss.
"Oh my goodness! The president has been crippled for so many years and can finally stand up! What a miracle!"
After Ruan Fuxi got into the car, Sheng Yanzhou followed her in. Seeing him so intent on staying close made Ruan Fuxi stifle a laugh in her heart.
