The gates of the manor stood open, and from a distance, Ruan Fuxi spotted several individuals in Daoist robes entering.
As she approached, the butler at the entrance hesitated upon seeing her.
"Is this young lady the master invited here? Would you kindly present your invitation?" he inquired, puzzled. "It's strange; did the master really invite such a young and beautiful master this time?"
Ruan Fuxi replied, "I think you might be misunderstanding something. My surname is Ruan, and I have an appointment with Sheng Yanzhou to collect some medicinal herbs. Is he available now?"
The butler's eyes flickered with a hint of gossip and excitement, so quickly that Ruan Fuxi almost thought she had imagined it.
Though the butler appeared to be no longer young, he quickly regained his composure.
"I see. Please follow me; the young master should be in his study at this hour." He seemed very friendly.
The butler, whose surname was Jin, led the way while thinking about the young lady who followed him closely behind. He felt a surge of excitement in his heart.
She was the only girl in many years to be personally invited by the young master. He couldn't help but wonder what their relationship was. Could it be that the young master had finally come to his senses?
If that were true, it would be wonderful!
However, as he pondered further, Butler Jin couldn't help but sigh inwardly. The young master's leg ailment had persisted for years without improvement; even several masters had said that his life was in jeopardy.
Yet the old master remained undeterred; today, he had invited numerous masters to inquire whether there were ways to prolong or change his fate.
Suppressing his thoughts, Butler Jin guided Ruan Fuxi along the cobblestone path to the front of the building. They entered through the back and walked across a wool carpet until they reached the study.
"Young master, the young lady you arranged to meet for medicinal herbs has arrived," he announced.
Sheng Yanzhou responded from within, "Just let the guest in."
He realized that today his father had invited several masters to their home specifically for his fate.
Just a moment ago, he had declined their offers.
Outside, Butler Jin gestured for Ruan Fuxi to enter. "Miss Ruan, please come in."
He stepped out of the building, needing to find the master to discuss this matter.
Ruan Fuxi pushed open the door and entered the study, only to freeze in place.
Before a row of bookshelves sat a handsome man in a wheelchair, who looked exactly like her secluded partner, Sheng Yanzhou.
If it were just the same name, it could be dismissed as a coincidence. But with such identical features, Ruan Fuxi couldn't help but suspect that this man was indeed the same person as her partner in the cultivation world, Sheng Yanzhou.
Moreover, there was the fact that he was sitting in a wheelchair, unable to stand on his own legs.
Suppressing the tumult of emotions within her, Ruan Fuxi approached him.
"Hello, Sheng Xian. I’m your online friend, Tides, Ruan Fuxi. I’m here to collect the herbs we agreed upon."
At that moment, Sheng Yanzhou was also lost in thought.
He gazed at the person standing before him and suddenly understood what it meant to feel an instant connection that spanned lifetimes.
A rather impolite thought flashed through his mind: She seemed like his long-lost wife.
The person before him was extraordinarily beautiful, with delicate features and ethereal almond-shaped eyes that sparkled with clarity. No one else could capture his attention like she did.
She was different.
Sheng Yanzhou felt as though every aspect of this person resonated with his heart; there wasn't a single thing about her that didn't please him.
He even wished to give her everything he had.
Sheng Yanzhou thought to himself that if his inept brothers had set their sights on her as part of their beauty scheme, he would soon find himself in deep trouble.
