Lin Xue'er dared not slack off, fearing that others might outshine her. Ruan Huai wouldn't spare her an extra glance just because she was beautiful, but he would praise a capable subordinate.
Lin Xue'er often felt that whenever Ruan Huai complimented her, she would feel invigorated, her appearance would become more radiant, and her luck would improve. This only strengthened her resolve to stay by Ruan Huai's side and marry into the Ruan family. As for the new intern, Ruan Fuxi, she was determined to find a way to make her leave the company sooner or later.
At that moment, Ruan Fuxi received a private message subtly reminding her to be cautious of Lin Xue'er. After thanking the sender, she raised an eyebrow in mild amusement. Did she seem like the kind of person who could be easily bullied?
However, throughout the entire afternoon, Ruan Fuxi did not see Lin Xue'er and thus prepared to leave work in high spirits. As she stepped out of the office building, a Bentley pulled up in front of her. The window slowly rolled down, revealing her brother's handsome face.
Ruan Huai sat in the back seat and simply instructed, "Get in."
Ruan Fuxi glanced around cautiously before swiftly getting into the car. "Brother, you shouldn't be so obvious about it; it's not good for work."
Seeing her reaction made Ruan Huai's temples throb slightly. "Are you stealing something? Or do I look unpresentable?"
Ruan Fuxi chuckled lightly. "Brother, no one knows my identity. I'm just getting to know our department from the ground up."
Then she recalled how Lin Xue'er had looked down on her and asked, "Brother, what do you think of Secretary Lin?"
She needed to confirm her brother's attitude towards Lin Xue'er.
Ruan Huai replied, "She has an overseas education background and works hard." He remembered a time when they were rushing a project and she managed to stay up until two in the morning; he felt quite satisfied with that.
Hearing this reassured Ruan Fuxi; her brother truly regarded Lin Xue'er as just a subordinate.
"I feel like Secretary Lin doesn't really like me."
Ruan Fuxi recounted how Secretary Lin had scolded her for playing on her phone during lunch. Ruan Huai frowned.
"She’s so nosy? It seems like she has too little work to do," he remarked, then turned to Ruan Fuxi. "Why did you let her talk to you like that? What happened to your temper? And why didn’t you tell me right away?"
Ruan Fuxi quickly replied, "Brother, don’t be angry. I told you about it, and I snapped back at her immediately. She has no right to boss me around."
Only Assistant Zhang, who was driving, silently mourned for Secretary Lin in his heart. He thought to himself, of all the people to provoke, why her?
But his mourning lasted only a few seconds; after all, it wasn’t him who had offended her. Their president had even skipped work just to take his sister home. This made things easier for him; he finally felt the long-lost joy of leaving work on time. He even secretly hoped that Miss Ruan would stay at the company longer so he could enjoy this punctuality every day.
After returning home to the Ruan family, Ruan Fuxi was surrounded by several people expressing their concern for her. Ruan Huai was also instructed by Lu Manyun not to let his sister suffer any grievances at their company.
At the dinner table, Ruan Fuxi asked about Ruan Anmu's internship.
"I chose the best private hospital! I’ll start my internship there tomorrow!" Ruan Anmu exclaimed excitedly.
However, Ruan Fuxi frowned at this news. Seeing her sister's reaction, Ruan Anmu immediately became anxious.
