After checking the account again, she confirmed that there was no personal information about her in real life displayed. The original owner had done well in this regard, avoiding the foolishness of exposing her name and other details online.
Ruan Fuxi had no intention of revealing herself either; she wanted to be a mysterious master of metaphysics on the internet. Earlier, Zhao Qiang had sought Ruan Fuxi for a fortune-telling session. After graduating high school, he hadn’t been able to get into college and didn’t want to end up like everyone else working in a factory, living a monotonous and exhausting life. He yearned to stand out.
With the rise of the internet and various types of bloggers, he found an opportunity to become a master of metaphysics who specialized in evaluations and debunking scams. Over time, he accumulated a decent following and was getting by reasonably well. However, he recently hit a bottleneck; his follower count stagnated, and he was frustrated about where to find fresh content when he stumbled upon Ruan Fuxi’s updates.
Noticing her sudden shift from flaunting wealth to fortune-telling, Zhao Qiang instinctively concluded that she was a fraud and decided to make her his next target for exposure. Still, it pained him to send money for the consultation, thinking how could this scammer dare to charge so much? Yet, for the sake of his next topic, he transferred three thousand yuan.
Before long, Zhao Qiang had edited his content and included snippets from his conversation with Ruan Fuxi:
“Nowadays, anyone dares to call themselves a master online. I scrolled through her profile; it was all designer bags and luxury items. I suspect it’s all fake—just a way to show off and gain followers while pretending to be a master to swindle money. I’m a professional debunker; here’s the proof! Xili Li!”
Xili Li was Ruan Fuxi’s account nickname.
After posting this update, Zhao Qiang returned to the chat with Ruan Fuxi and saw her message claiming it was impossible for her predictions to be wrong. Zhao Qiang thought to himself that she was still trying to play games with him; she wouldn’t give up easily.
He quickly typed back:
“You’re just wrong! My parents are alive and well; how could you say I lost my mother at thirteen? Isn’t that cursing my mom? Refund my money!”
Ruan Fuxi raised an eyebrow at his message.
“The consultation fee is non-refundable.”
Zhao Qiang grew anxious.
Three thousand yuan! That was equivalent to a month’s salary in their town!
“If you can’t get it right and won’t refund me, I’ve already exposed you as a fake master. Just wait!”
Ruan Fuxi clicked on his profile and immediately spotted the recently posted debunking update.
She didn't take it seriously, and even felt a bit amused, directly commenting on the other person's post.
"I didn't miscalculate the fortune; rather than doubting the authenticity, why not consider if you are really your parents' child?"
After that, she exited the other person's profile.
Zhao Qiang, who specialized in debunking fortune-telling masters, had a group of active fans.
