Several executives thought they had seen enough surprises for the day, but little did they know that even more shocking moments awaited them.
Why was General Ruan asking her about such an important project? Before they could voice their thoughts, the sound of a cup shattering on the floor broke the silence.
Ruan Fuxi looked in the direction of the noise and saw shards scattered everywhere. Without needing to consult anything, she stated directly, "We cannot invest. Otherwise, it will lead to financial losses."
Ruan Huai took her words to heart and addressed the group, "This project will not pass. There’s no need to bring it up again in the future."
Lin Xue'er wanted to argue further. "General Ruan, she just started her internship today and is still working at the front desk. She might not understand this industry. I think you should reconsider; I have high hopes for this project."
She had invested considerable effort into researching this project, hoping to impress Ruan Huai with her findings. How could she allow Ruan Fuxi to dismiss it so easily?
Ruan Huai remained firm in his refusal. "Xiao Xi may not understand this industry or commercial investments, but she certainly understands fortune. Trusting her will not be a mistake. Besides, Xiao Xi holds shares in the company; if the company profits, she profits."
Lin Xue'er’s expression darkened as she struggled to suppress her frustration. With a forced smile that was clearly insincere, she turned to Ruan Fuxi and asked, "Since you believe this project is not worth investing in, may I ask what factors you considered? Was it market research, return rates, or risk management?"
Ruan Fuxi replied with confusion, "What are you talking about?"
Having raised so many pigs, she was most familiar with postnatal care for sows.
Seeing that Ruan Fuxi didn’t respond, Lin Xue'er inwardly scoffed. Noticing her brother’s curiosity as well, Ruan Fuxi decided to explain:
Just as Ruan Zong asked whether the project could be invested in, a cup of water shattered. To us, this seemed like an omen or a prediction, indicating that everything is interconnected. Water represents wealth, and the broken cup signifies a loss of fortune, suggesting that this project should not be pursued.
Lin Xue'er listened to this theory, dismissing it in her mind as sheer nonsense. What kind of absurd reasoning was this? She turned to see Ruan Huai deeply convinced by it. The words she had almost spoken got stuck in her throat, leaving her expression somewhat peculiar.
The other executives had already realized that the intern at the front desk held a special status with the president, and they tactfully refrained from voicing their opinions. Although they too felt that the new intern's earlier remarks were somewhat far-fetched, they couldn't help but wonder if all this talk about omens and financial losses was just a fabrication.
Seeing no one opposing her, Lin Xue'er felt reluctant to let it go. She turned to Ruan Fuxi and said, "We are now in a new era; we should be more scientific and let data speak for itself. I spent a lot of time researching this project, and if implemented, it could bring significant benefits to the company."
If it weren't for Ruan Huai valuing this intern, why would he bother discussing this with her? After all, she was just a small front desk clerk.
Ruan Fuxi listened and replied casually, "Oh, and then?"
Lin Xue'er gritted her teeth. "We can't make such hasty decisions. How can you be so sure that what you said is true? It might just be a coincidence that a cup broke."
She almost blurted out that she thought Ruan Fuxi was trying to fool everyone.
Ruan Fuxi caught on to her implication. Leaning on the table with one hand supporting her chin, she scanned Lin Xue'er with a knowing look. "Hmm, I think Secretary Lin might be in for a bit of trouble today; I fear there might be some bloodshed. Please be careful."
Lin Xue'er was furious upon hearing this, feeling as though she had been cursed.
