"Is there something wrong with my nephew?"
Before Ruan Fuxi could respond, Liu Chengye slapped his hand on the back of his head. "You little brat, are you cursing your nephew? They checked everything when he was born; how could there be any problems?"
Liu Fan covered his head but still looked at Ruan Fuxi.
Ruan Fuxi nodded. "He's a debt collector."
This wasn't an insult; it was a statement of fact.
Liu Chengye frowned deeply. Anyone who heard such words would feel uneasy. "What do you mean by that?"
Ruan Fuxi raised an eyebrow. "It means exactly what I said."
Before Liu Chengye could explode, Ruan Fuxi kindly reminded him, "Did you owe someone money before? And then that person died before you could pay them back? Sometimes, you might even dream of someone asking for repayment."
Liu Chengye instinctively wanted to dismiss her as talking nonsense, but a memory flashed in his mind, and his expression changed. It seemed there was indeed something to it.
Ruan Fuxi continued, "Think about it: ever since your eldest grandson was born, have you had any dreams about repaying debts?"
Liu Chengye's expression shifted again.
Ruan Fuxi had hit the nail on the head once more.
Liu Fan understood his father's demeanor. Seeing the situation unfold, he immediately turned to Ruan Fuxi and asked, "Miss Ruan, is there any way to resolve this? My dad loves his eldest grandson but doesn't want a debt collector haunting him!"
Ruan Fuxi smirked but didn't answer his question. Instead, she said, "I'm sorry, but I'm still waiting for Miss Yu's explanation."
Both Liu Fan and his father were clever; they quickly turned to Yu Qi. "Miss Yu, it's not a good habit to speak ill of others behind their backs. If you're brave enough to say it, why not explain yourself now? Hurry up; don't waste everyone's time."
Yu Qi's eyes reddened slightly, looking as if she were about to crumble.
However, after the incidents involving Xu Zhengguo and Liu Chengye, no one dared to step forward to help her anymore. They were simply too afraid. It seemed that Ruan Fuxi truly had some skills; they certainly didn’t want their ancestral graves to be flooded or to have a debt collector as a descendant.
Yu Qi, seeing that no one was coming to her aid, felt tears welling up. She was anxious to maintain her status as the adopted daughter of the Yu family, suppressing her hatred for Ruan Fuxi. With a weak demeanor, she began to cry and said, "I'm sorry, Xiaoxi. I spoke out of turn and slandered you. You never said those things; it was all my fault. I apologize."
Damn Ruan Fuxi! She had openly expressed her disdain for the biological daughter of the Ruan family right in front of her and claimed that Ruan Anmu shouldn’t take away the wealth that belonged to her. But unfortunately, she had no evidence.
Yu Qi secretly harbored resentment in her heart. After saying those words, she seemed to collapse and immediately ran away. The good image of being a well-behaved and understanding person that she had built over the years was shattered in an instant. Yu Qi could already imagine how they would label her in the future—a jealous gossip.
Ruan Fuxi raised an eyebrow. Was she really that fragile? She hadn’t even done anything yet.
After Yu Qi ran out, Ruan Fuxi glanced around and smiled. "Are you all here to seek my fortune or to exorcise evil spirits? The price is negotiable."
As soon as she finished speaking, the crowd dispersed. Even if they were somewhat curious, they wouldn’t dare to ask her fortune in front of everyone. What if something outrageous came up? That would only give others something to laugh about.
