Fu Sihan felt indifferent towards Ruan Fuxi, only holding back due to the Ruan family's reputation, which prevented him from making things too difficult for her. If Ruan Fuxi continued to disturb his life as she had before, he would no longer extend her any courtesy.
Ever since their last encounter on the mountain, Ruan Fuxi had stopped clinging to him like before, including during the recent birthday party. Since Ruan Fuxi had become more sensible, Fu Sihan decided not to dwell on past matters. He only hoped she could maintain this newfound attitude and treat him as she would anyone else.
Yu Jing listened to his cousin's words, knowing he was serious, and adjusted his demeanor accordingly. "I understand, Fu Ge. I won't joke around anymore."
From behind the curtain, Ruan Fuxi raised an eyebrow. It seemed that this male lead was just as described in the novel—a normal person. Since Fu Sihan was no longer holding grudges, she decided to pretend that the previous attempts to seduce him by the original owner of her body never happened. Otherwise, facing Ruan Anmu, who was destined to be with her half-sister, she would feel embarrassed no matter how thick-skinned she was.
Then she heard Fu Sihan's voice filled with concern: "I need to leave first; my uncle's leg injury has flared up at the hospital, and I need to check on him."
Upon hearing this, Yu Jing spoke with a hint of respect and worry in his tone: "Hasn't President Sheng's leg injury healed yet? I know a few specialists abroad; should I arrange for them to consult?"
Yu Jing's suggestion was purely out of concern; after all, President Sheng was a prominent figure who certainly didn't need his introduction to renowned doctors.
As expected, Fu Sihan replied, "No need. My uncle's leg injury is unusual; all the top doctors in the world have seen him, and they can only maintain his current condition at best."
Ruan Fuxi recalled hearing about someone hospitalized due to a leg injury a few days ago. Was it now outdated for CEOs in these stories to suffer from stomach ailments? Had leg injuries become the trending affliction? Otherwise, how could she have heard of two CEOs hospitalized for leg injuries in one night?
It wasn't surprising that Ruan Fuxi didn't connect them as being the same person. After all, one was a friend of Cheng Qiting in his twenties, while the other was Fu Sihan's uncle in his twenties. Under normal circumstances, no one would link them together.
After Fu Sihan finished speaking, he seemed about to walk out when he suddenly bumped into someone.
"I'm sorry, did I get your clothes dirty?" A voice filled with apology rang out.
Fu Sihan looked at the vibrant person in front of him and recognized her as the woman he had seen on the mountain that day, the one who had been with Ruan Fuxi. She was also Ruan's biological daughter, Ruan Anmu.
"No," Fu Sihan replied briefly.
Ruan Anmu tilted her head and smiled as she asked, "Have we met somewhere before, sir?"
Yu Jing, standing nearby, felt alarm bells ringing in his mind. This was such a cliché way to flirt! This newly found daughter of the Ruan family couldn’t possibly be interested in his brother Fu, could she?
To Yu Jing's surprise, Fu Sihan did not walk away immediately. Instead, he nodded slightly.
"Yes, we have met."
Ruan Anmu's eyes lit up with recognition. "I remember now! It was on the mountain at Taoyuan Farm. You were coming to help that day."
"You're welcome," Fu Sihan replied.
Ruan Anmu took another look at him, thinking how aloof he seemed. Then she recalled the reason she had come this way.
"By the way, have you seen Xiaoxi?"
It was difficult for her to escape from all those ladies and their daughters who were secretly sizing her up and making snide remarks about her and Xiaoxi. Ruan Anmu found them utterly annoying. She thought it would be much better to find Xiaoxi and play instead. After all, Xiaoxi was clever; she had slipped away early on.
