Ruan Fuxi knew that he was still angry. The original owner tearing up the concert tickets he had joyfully given her was just the last straw; prior to that, she had repeatedly made Ruan Xun, her younger brother, take the blame for her misdeeds. This included, but was not limited to, a prank in elementary school where she locked Ruan Xun in a cabinet, causing the whole family to think he had gone missing or been kidnapped. Later, she claimed it was Ruan Xun’s own fault for playing around.
Another instance was at a family birthday party when she broke a gift meant for an elder and blamed it on Ruan Xun instead.
Ruan Xun had always thought these were just normal sibling antics until his concert tickets were thrown in the trash. That was when he finally realized that the sister he had called for so many years didn’t love him. Ruan Fuxi looked at Ruan Xun and thought how little the original owner cherished such a brother.
With a gentle smile, she said to him, “Ah Xun, I’ve prepared something for you too. You should carry it with you; it will keep you safe.” She then took out a talisman.
For a moment, Ruan Xun didn’t move. Seeing this, Ruan Fuxi feigned disappointment and lowered her head, saying, “This is specially made for you, Ah Xun. I worked hard on it. Don’t you like it?”
Ruan Xun looked at the talisman in her hand and her pitiful expression, biting his lip before silently taking it from her. As he accepted the talisman, he felt a flicker of joy deep within him. But when had Ruan Fuxi learned to make these things?
Seeing him take it, Ruan Fuxi thought to herself that this stubborn brother had a soft heart and was quite easy to coax. She then said earnestly, “Just now I did some fortune-telling for Mom and Dad; I almost forgot to do yours until you showed up.”
Ruan Xun still harbored some resentment and instinctively scoffed, “What era is this? You still believe in such things?”
Ruan Fuxi wasn’t offended; instead, she smiled cheerfully. “Come on, let’s give it a try! I’m quite good at this.”
In the midst of his anger, the proud younger brother needed to be coaxed.
Ruan Xun looked at her smiling face and momentarily swallowed back his sarcastic remarks.
"I’m not looking," he said.
Then he turned to Ruan Jili and the others, saying, "Dad, Mom, since my brother is fine, I’ll be leaving now."
He had to leave suddenly as he still needed to continue with the rehearsal. Just as he turned around, Ruan Huai felt his hand being grabbed.
He looked over and saw it was Ruan Fuxi.
"What do you want?" he asked.
Though he said that, he hesitated for a moment and didn’t pull his hand away.
Ruan Fuxi replied, "Of course, I’m here to care for our dear Xun. I can really calculate things quite accurately."
Without waiting for him to refuse, Ruan Fuxi began to seriously examine his features.
Seeing her so earnest, Ruan Huai decided not to continue speaking and allowed her to hold his hand. He thought that Ruan Fuxi was much cuter when she was quiet than when she was talking.
After a moment, Ruan Fuxi said with a serious expression, "Xun, recently you have a calamity approaching. There’s a peach blossom mark appearing under your eye, indicating a peach blossom disaster. So you should avoid getting too close to women lately, especially younger ones. Once you pass this calamity, your future will be bright and full of glory."
Ruan Huai found her predictions a bit ridiculous.
"I’m only eighteen."
At eighteen, just at the beginning of his youth, where would he encounter a peach blossom disaster? Besides, all he cared about was singing; he had no interest in romance at all.
Ruan Fuxi looked at him with a gentle smile, but her tone remained serious.
