In the next moment, the little girl sprang into action. She hugged her grandfather tightly and began to cry, calling out for him.
Seeing this, Old Lu felt a sense of relief wash over him; crying was better than being silent and unresponsive. He comforted his granddaughter while respectfully asking, "Master, may I ask what is wrong with my granddaughter?"
Ruan Fuxi replied, "She has had her soul bound by someone using her birth date, which is why she hasn’t been crying or making a fuss. Fortunately, we discovered it not too late; otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to save her."
Old Lu's expression darkened as he listened to her words. Who could be behind harming his granddaughter? She was just a child!
He continued to inquire, "Is there any way you can tell who did this?"
As Ruan Fuxi led Ruan Anmu outside, she spoke with a hint of meaning in her voice, "I cannot tell you directly, but you will find out soon enough. The soul-calling hasn’t taken long, which means the person who bound her is nearby. I believe they will come looking for you shortly."
She then added, "I have no intention of revealing my identity, and you need not disclose who saved your granddaughter."
Old Lu immediately understood her implication. "Rest assured, Master. If anyone asks how my granddaughter recovered, I will not mention you at all."
Ruan Fuxi nodded in approval. "This child has a full brow and thick earlobes; she will be blessed in the future. Just let her bask in the sun more over the next few days, and she will be fine."
Old Lu felt another wave of gratitude wash over him but then hesitantly asked, "Master, may I know how you charge for your services?" He was somewhat worried that he might not have enough money and would need to gather more.
After a moment of contemplation, Ruan Fuxi said, "You don't need to give me any money. How about this: prepare a hundred thousand yuan to donate to a charity organization, whether for impoverished children or disabled children, it would be a noble act."
The other party was elderly, without a wife, having lost both daughter and son, while the little girl had lost her mother.
For the lonely and bereaved, Ruan Fuxi refused to accept money.
Old Lu felt immensely grateful upon hearing this. "Master, my granddaughter and I don't know how to thank you. Since you are unwilling to accept money, please take a look at the items in my shop. If there's anything that catches your eye, just take it."
There were indeed some good items in the shop, but they held little value for Ruan Fuxi. She initially intended to decline, but then suddenly thought of Ruan Anmu beside her.
"Xiao Mu, is there anything you like?"
Ruan Anmu was pleasantly surprised by her question. "Xiao Xi is so nice; she’s thinking of me." She felt a bit tempted but then reconsidered. How could she take advantage of Xiao Xi's kindness? Besides, she didn't really understand these things.
So, Ruan Anmu shook her head.
Ruan Fuxi turned to the shop owner. "Thank you for your kindness, but it's unnecessary."
After paying for the vermilion paper, she was about to lead them out of the shop when a man in his thirties hurriedly entered. He appeared somewhat agitated and fierce.
"Dad, how is Xiao Xuan doing today?" he asked as he reached out to check on the little girl in his arms.
Old Lu recalled what Ruan Fuxi had said earlier about someone soon coming for his granddaughter and instinctively looked at her. Yet, he still found it hard to believe.
When he saw Ruan Fuxi nodding subtly without any change in expression, Old Lu's heart sank. The man before him was his son-in-law.
