Ruan Fuxi immediately recognized the person before her—her paternal aunt, Cao Huirou. This aunt was known for her snobbishness and sharp tongue. Before Ruan Fuxi's identity as a fake heiress was discovered, she had been both hypocritical and overly enthusiastic.
The Ruan family had risen to wealth through the hard work of Ruan Fuxi's father, who had built their fortune from scratch. Her uncle had relied on the support of Ruan Fuxi's family to buy a car and a house in the city, gaining some semblance of respectability. If it weren't for their help, he might still be farming a small plot of land in the countryside.
When Cao Huirou made her earlier remark, the expressions of several members of the Ruan family changed dramatically. Yet, she remained oblivious, continuing to speak animatedly. "Little Xi, it's not that I’m criticizing you, but one must have self-awareness. Don’t covet things that don’t belong to you, understand?"
Cao Huirou recalled that she was supposed to be a senior figure in the family. In the past, she had to endure this stubborn girl, often swallowing her pride. But now that Ruan Fuxi was no longer considered a daughter of the Ruan family, it was time for her to vent her frustrations.

But before Ruan Fuxi could respond, Lu Manyun spoke up first. Her expression was icy, and her tone was filled with discontent. "Sister-in-law, Fuxi is still a child. Her identity is our family matter; it’s not your place to comment."
Though she referred to her as sister-in-law, there was no hint of kindness in her words.
Cao Huirou looked at Lu Manyun in disbelief. "Manyun, this girl isn’t even your biological daughter anymore, yet you still defend her? I’m doing this for you!"
Cao Huirou had always been envious of this sister-in-law who had married well and lived as a wealthy lady. Now that the daughter she had raised for ten years turned out not to be hers by blood, she wouldn’t miss the chance to enjoy this spectacle.
Lu Manyun immediately glanced at Ruan Fuxi and Ruan Anmu, worried that her daughters might feel uncomfortable hearing such remarks. Seeing their lack of reaction eased her mind slightly as she coldly stated, "Enough! Today is our family matter; sister-in-law, please leave."
With that, she signaled for the housekeeper to escort them out.
Cao Huirou had come specifically to witness this drama unfold; there was no way she would leave so easily. With Ruan Fuxi's notorious temperament, today would surely turn into chaos for the Ruan family—she didn’t want to miss such entertainment.
Cao Huirou quickly feigned an expression of regret.
"Oh dear sister-in-law, I may be speaking out of turn, but as the aunt, I must show concern for my little niece. I won't say anything more; I'll just watch and see how you handle this."
Lu Manyun frowned slightly at her naive demeanor. Meanwhile, Ruan Fuxi had already walked directly in front of Cao Huirou and kicked her chair over.
"Who are you calling a dead girl?"
Cao Huirou fell to the ground as her chair tipped over, momentarily stunned and unable to react.
Hearing Ruan Fuxi's words ignited her anger, and she quickly got back on her feet, pointing a finger at Ruan Fuxi, ready to retaliate.
"You dare hit me? Do you really think you're a daughter of the Ruan family?"
Cao Huirou cursed loudly, spewing a stream of foul language that was hardly suitable for ears.
Ruan Fuxi merely laughed in response.
"Did I give you face?"
With that, she kicked again.
This time, Cao Huirou fell flat on her back, lying on the ground for a while without getting up, groaning in pain.
"Ruan Jijian, you worthless man! Your wife is being bullied right in front of you, and you're just sitting there doing nothing. Marrying you has truly brought me nothing but bad luck!"
