At this moment, Li Yunlong had just been locked up. Perhaps he hadn’t yet contemplated suicide, but when he heard Wang Jiefang speak, he felt a bit bewildered. "Kid, why are you saying all this? Do I look like I’m on the brink of death?"

Wang Jiefang quickly tried to calm him down. "Grandpa Li, I know you’re innocent; you’ve been wronged. But what about those heroes from the resistance who were captured before? Were they not wronged as well? But who is there to help them?"
Hearing Wang Jiefang’s words, Li Yunlong fell silent. Who was there to help? He was just a Major General after all, and this wasn’t the first time a Major General had been imprisoned! What a damn world!
"Grandpa Li, let me ask you this: if your subordinates came to rescue you, would you leave with them?" Wang Jiefang asked after a moment of silence.
"Absolutely not!" Li Yunlong declared firmly.
"But if someone really came to rescue you and you refused to leave, have you thought about what would happen when the Wind Committee finds out?" Wang Jiefang’s question hung in the air, and silence enveloped them. Perhaps he was thinking about the fates of those generals who had been captured. After a while, Li Yunlong finally spoke up slowly. "If they want me to endure their interrogation, that humiliation is something I cannot bear. If it comes down to it, I’d rather end my own life; at least then it would be worth it!"
Under Wang Jiefang’s coaxing, Li Yunlong expressed his innermost thoughts. After saying that, he felt something was off and asked Wang Jiefang, "Kid, did you come here in the middle of the night because you were afraid I might take my own life?"
Wang Jiefang forced a smile and replied evasively, "Grandpa Li, I wouldn’t think that way. I just worry that you might not be able to handle this pressure!"
Li Yunlong was sharp; he could tell that Wang Jiefang was just brushing him off. Reflecting on what Wang Jiefang had asked earlier, he knew that his subordinates would definitely come to rescue him once they learned he had been captured. At that point, things would escalate!
If he didn’t want to implicate those who came to save him, there would only be one path left for him!
Damn it! This kid Wang Jiefang seems to understand everything clearly! He turned to Wang Jiefang and said, "Alright then, since you see through all this, what do you suggest we do?"
Finally revealing his thoughts, Wang Jiefang said, "Grandpa Li, you’re already in your forties now, right? You’ve shed blood and sweat for the country for decades; surely it’s time for retirement. Why not take this opportunity to retire and go back home to enjoy your old age?"
Li Yunlong hesitated for a moment upon hearing Wang Jiefang's suggestion. Wang Jiefang deliberately provoked him further: "What’s wrong? Is Grandpa Li reluctant to give up your high position and wealth?"
Li Yunlong shot him a glare and scolded him: "Nonsense! Am I like those people? I’m just considering whether this is feasible!"
To strengthen Li Yunlong’s resolve to retire and go home for a peaceful life, Wang Jiefang continued: "Grandpa Li, think about it: if you don’t retire and things go as you said—what about Grandma Tian? What about your son? And what will your comrades think when they see you being persecuted? If they can’t stand by and watch without stepping in for you, what will happen to them?"
"Enough! Don’t say anymore! Am I not retiring now? How did I not notice how sharp-tongued you are?"
"Now are you satisfied? Get out of here! Oh right, remember to find Duan Peng and tell that brat not to act recklessly!"
