The police looked at the agitated Yi Zhonghai with impatience. "Shut up! Do we need you to teach us how to handle a case?"
Yi Zhonghai's face turned red with anger; he felt humiliated being scolded by a younger officer in front of so many people, despite his own status.
After reprimanding Yi Zhonghai, the officer turned back to Wang Jiefang. "Master Wang, can you explain why you hit Sha Zhu?"
"That's right! I also want to know why Sha Zhu got hit! And why was he at Wang Jiefang's doorstep?"
Everyone recognized that voice; it was Director Wang arriving on the scene. She had been preparing to eat at home when she learned that there was trouble again at Courtyard No. 95 and that someone had even called the police!
Fuming, she abandoned her meal and rushed over just in time to hear the officer's questions!
The officer nodded at Director Wang. She responded to him, "Xiao Wang, thank you for your hard work. It's a holiday and yet you're here dealing with this mess!"
"Director Wang, it's our duty," the officer replied politely.
Yi Zhonghai felt an impending sense of doom but didn't understand what was wrong.
"Xiao Wang, please explain why you hit Sha Zhu," Director Wang asked again.
"Director, here’s what happened: My wife and I were sleeping inside when I heard a noise at my door. Upon listening closely, I realized someone was trying to force open my door. Thinking there might be a burglar in my home, I quietly got up. When the door opened, I instinctively swung my stick without realizing it was Sha Zhu!"
