After sitting down at the restaurant and looking at the dishes on the table, the old commander exclaimed, "Wow! Fish and meat, you’ve done well! During the war, even the local landlords couldn’t afford such a feast!"
The political commissar chuckled, "Xiao Song, you really put in some effort!"
"Don’t be modest, it’s just some home-cooked dishes. I hope you two won’t find them lacking," Director Song replied politely.
The commander, feeling no need to be polite in front of his old subordinate, picked up his chopsticks and began to serve himself. "What are you two dilly-dallying for? I’ll taste the saltiness of these dishes first!"
He aimed directly for the braised pork, which glistened with oil and looked incredibly appetizing!
After taking a bite, the commander couldn’t stop himself from eating. Seeing his reaction, the political commissar immediately joined in as well!
All of them were military men, and within ten minutes, the four dishes and soup were devoured clean. They had no choice; if they hesitated even a moment, the old commander would finish everything himself!
"Well done, Director Song! You’ve got some skills; these dishes are as good as those at a state banquet. Where did you find such a chef?"
Once the commander noticed that the dishes were all gone and he was full, he set down his bowl and wiped his mouth, asking.
"Indeed, Xiao Song, this chef must be at least a first-class one! Where did you hire him from?"

"Oh? A first-class chef working at a street office? Interesting! Is he here? If not, let him come out so Old Li can meet him."
Upon hearing Director Song's words, the commander instantly became interested in this chef!

No wonder he felt that loud voice in the kitchen sounded a bit familiar!
