Shazhu and Qin Huairu were discussing in the courtyard when they stumbled upon a lead.
"Huairu, are you talking about the girl who came to your house today? I saw her come out of the bathroom and get stopped by Xu Damao. They talked for a bit before she followed him out!"
An aunt in the courtyard overheard Qin Huairu mention Qin Jingru and shared what she had seen.
"What? Qin Jingru is the match that Sister Qin introduced to me! That bastard Xu Damao dares to steal my date!"
"Liuxiao'e! Xu Damao has taken my date away, are you going to do something about it?" Shazhu shouted into the crowd, but no matter how much he yelled, Liuxiao'e didn't show up. At that moment, Aunt Yi said to Shazhu, "Stop shouting, Liuxiao'e went back to her family early this morning!"
Liuxiao'e wasn't home! Shazhu felt helpless and turned to the aunt who had given him the news. "Niu Auntie, do you know where Xu Damao took Jingru?"
"How would I know? I only saw them together when I came out of the bathroom!"
Upon learning that Qin Jingru had gone with Xu Damao, Qin Huairu's expression was still grim, but it was much better than when she thought Qin Jingru was lost.
"Sister Qin, what should we do? She was introduced to me as a match, and now she's gone off with that scoundrel Xu Damao!" Shazhu finally asked Qin Huairu, his tone tinged with complaint.
Qin Huairu shot him a glance. "How would I know what to do? I've already introduced my cousin to you. It's Xu Damao who messed things up for you two; you can't blame me for that!"
Hearing Qin Huairu's words made Shazhu feel incredibly frustrated, but he couldn't say anything against Sister Qin!
"Damn it, Xu Damao, just wait! I'll make sure to break your legs!" Shazhu decided to focus all his anger on Xu Damao.
"Shazhu, let me tell you, blaming Xu Damao won't help. Just look at yourself; if you stood next to Qin Jingru, people might think you're father and daughter! You don't need Xu Damao to interfere; the girl wouldn't even look at you!"
"Yeah, Shazhu, you've been on so many blind dates before and none worked out. What makes you so sure that Sister Qin's cousin would want to be with you?"
The people in the courtyard started mocking Shazhu as they saw him at a loss.
"You idiots don't know anything! Just because I look a bit older? Besides, I'm a chef! I guarantee she'll never go hungry with me! How could she possibly not like me?" Shazhu argued back, his face flushed with anger.
"Haha, Shazhu, stop flattering yourself! We all know you too well around here. Go ask around; which woman would want to date a thief?" The crowd continued their sarcastic remarks at Shazhu's expense.
"I've said it before; I'm not a thief! Whoever brings it up again will regret it!"
Shazhu hated being called a thief more than anything else, especially being labeled as a chicken thief!
"Haha, Shazhu, you're getting worked up! But it doesn't matter; everyone knows you're just a chicken thief; even the whole neighborhood knows!" The person speaking clearly wasn't afraid of Shazhu at all!
