Jia Zhang thought for a moment; over the years, Qin Huairu had indeed been quite honest. She decided not to say anything more, but secretly, she kept a closer watch on Qin Huairu.
Late at night, when all was quiet, Qin Huairu found it impossible to sleep. She was torn about whether to go to Li Dashan's place. As she turned over in bed, she caught sight of her son sleeping soundly and remembered Li Dashan's words. In the end, she quietly got out of bed; she couldn't gamble with her son's well-being!
Li Dashan thought that the widow Qin wouldn't come tonight, but unexpectedly, after he had fallen asleep, she still showed up. Since the meat was right in front of him, how could he refuse?
Li Dashan's bed was just separated from Shazhu's by a wall! Qin Huairu did her best to hold back any sounds. However, the creaking of the bed left by He Yushui seemed particularly loud in the stillness of the night.
In a daze, Shazhu was awakened by the creaking noise. Thinking about the people in his sister's room, he banged on the wall and shouted, "What are you doing messing around in the middle of the night? Why is your bed creaking so much?"
Shazhu's shout startled Qin Huairu so much that her legs went weak! At her pleading glance, the creaking noise from the bed quieted down significantly.
Shazhu was completely oblivious that it was his sister Qin who was causing all this commotion!
By the time Qin Huairu returned home, an hour had already passed. Her legs were still trembling as she lay in bed, replaying what had just happened in her mind. She thought about her confrontation with the deceased Jia Dongxu; his skills were nothing compared to those of this butcher Li!
Before she knew it, it was time for school to start again. During these days, whenever Li Dashan had meat to eat, Qin Huairu would borrow some money. That same night, she would appear at Li Dashan's house!
As this happened more frequently, the neighbors inevitably began to notice. They started looking at Qin Huairu with more ambiguous glances.
Wang Jiefang was fully aware of what was happening in the courtyard but had no intention of getting involved. He just wanted to live his life with his wife and grandmother; as long as no one bothered him, he wouldn't go looking for trouble!
Having not enjoyed enough time playing, Shazhu reluctantly shouldered his backpack and headed to school. In the afternoon, when Qin Huairu returned home with Shazhu after work, they hadn't even reached the courtyard gate when they ran into Ran Qiuyue.
"Bangeng's mom! Come with me to school quickly; Jia Bangeng is in trouble!"
Upon hearing that her son was in trouble, Qin Huairu grabbed Ran Qiuyue's arm tightly. "Teacher Ran, what happened to Bangeng? Is it serious?"
Ran Qiuyue sighed helplessly at Qin Huairu. "Bangeng's mom, Jia Bangeng stole our class's recently collected class fees! The principal sent me to find you!"
"What? How could Bangeng steal money? Are you sure you have the right person?" Qin Huairu couldn't believe that her son would steal money!
"Oh dear! Jia Bangeng's mom, please don't doubt it; let's hurry to school! The principal is waiting!" Seeing that Qin Huairu still wanted to ask for details, Ran Qiuyue urged her anxiously.
"Oh! I'm going right now!"
Meanwhile, Shazhu had been focused on Ran Qiuyue since she appeared. Now hearing that Qin Huairu was going to school, he quickly followed after her!
It must be said that Shazhu's legs had recovered quite well; he could even run now! No wonder he was able to go back to work!
