Qin Huairu looked at Li Dashan, who had just given her meat, and inwardly cursed him as a fool. However, she politely said, "Thank you, Brother Li. With this meat, my children can finally get some proper nutrition!"
Qin Huairu chose not to mention the exchange of meat for meat; in her heart, she was simply hoping to get something for nothing. After all, she had done this before!
Li Dashan could see through Qin Huairu's thoughts at a glance. He looked at her calmly and said, "Widow Qin, I've given you the meat. I hope you can let me have some meat tonight as well. Otherwise, I'll take the meat from your little one to make up for what I've given you."

Realizing what he was implying, Qin Huairu wanted to return the meat. But Li Dashan sneered, "I've already given you the meat. Even if you try to return it, you still have to come over tonight. Otherwise..."
Qin Huairu's expression changed several times before she turned and left. She regretted her decision; she had thought that dealing with a neighbor would be easy, but who would have thought that for a bowl of meat, she would end up in this situation? After all, Shazhu had brought her lunch boxes for nearly six years and lent her money countless times; she had only let him hold her hand! This time, she felt like she had lost big.
Shazhu went to visit the deaf old lady and had no idea that his beloved Qin Jie had sold herself out for a bowl of meat. If he knew, he might go mad!
When Jia Zhangshi saw Qin Huairu come back with the meat, she didn't pay attention to her expression and immediately started eating greedily while saying, "Huairu, I heard that this scoundrel works at the meat processing plant? His family must have plenty of meat. Since you managed to get some this time, make sure to ask him for more in the future!"
Facing Jia Zhangshi's gluttony and eagerness, Qin Huairu felt complicated as she looked at her. If only Jia Zhangshi knew the price of this little bit of meat; would she still be able to eat so heartily?
The others in the courtyard noticed that Qin Huairu had managed to get some meat and began to have similar thoughts. However, one by one, they were driven away by Li Dashan!

"Exactly! Why else would he lend her meat after they had a falling out?"
Strangely enough, they were right.
After Jia Zhangshi finished eating and stepped outside for some fresh air, someone rushed over and said to her: "Jia Pozi (Aunt Jia), you should keep an eye on your daughter-in-law; I suspect that guy has taken a liking to her!"
"Get lost! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll tear your mouth apart!"
Jia Zhangshi was most afraid that Qin Huairu would find another man outside and abandon her son. Hearing the neighbor say that someone was interested in Qin Huairu made her furious!
"Jia Pozi, don't doubt it! Why else would he only give meat to Qin Huairu while driving everyone else away?"
This made Jia Zhangshi start to doubt as well. She turned around and rushed home to warn Qin Huairu: "Qin Huairu, listen up! If you dare do anything inappropriate with that pig butcher and betray Dongxu, I'll peel your skin off!"
Qin Huairu thought Jia Zhangshi had found out about Li Dashan and her relationship; she quickly defended herself: "Mother-in-law, we've lived together for so many years; don't you know what kind of person I am? How could I possibly betray Dongxu?"
