Yan Jiefang was particularly sensitive to the mention of a blind person. Hearing the two mention it, he stepped forward and asked, "Hello, comrades. May I ask what that Master Wang's full name is?"

Thinking about their mention of a blind person, Yan Jiefang blurted out, "You mean Master Wang isn't Wang Jiefang, right?"

With confirmation of this news, Yan Jiefang still found it hard to believe. He hurriedly ran to the street office canteen. Upon arriving, he saw Wang Jiefang—the blind man—busy in the kitchen!
Seeing this made his eyes turn red with jealousy. He rushed back to where he had just inquired about job opportunities and exclaimed, "You guys are really bullying people! If that blind man can work in the kitchen as a chef, why can't you arrange a job for me?"
The staff looked at Yan Jiefang impatiently. "Yan Jiefang, this is the street office. Do we need your approval to arrange jobs for people? As I said, there are currently no suitable positions for you. Go home and wait! What are you making a fuss about here?"
With red eyes, Yan Jiefang retorted, "What? Is it against the rules for me to question how things are done at the street office? I just want to know why that blind man can work here!"
The commotion attracted Wang Ren outside. She recognized Yan Jiefang, who lived across from Wang Jiefang.
"Yan Jiefang, what are you causing a scene about at the street office?"
Upon seeing Wang Ren, Yan Jiefang's voice unconsciously softened. He felt wronged and said, "Wang Ren, I just don't understand why when I come looking for work, you all say there are no suitable positions for me while that blind man can work at the street office canteen?"
Wang Ren looked at him sternly and replied, "What? Does our street office need your permission to hire someone?"
"No, Wang Ren! That's not what I meant! I'm just curious how that blind man can work here!" Yan Jiefang was careful not to provoke her further and quickly clarified.
"As long as that's not your intention! Regarding Wang Jiefang's employment issue, he was hired after being evaluated and unanimously approved by all of us at the street office! What? Do you have an opinion?" Wang Ren explained calmly.
"I have no objections! But Wang Ren, if that blind man can do it, then I can too!"
Yan Jiefang clung tightly to this idea; he desperately wanted a job. After all his efforts to win over Yu Li, she had insisted that he needed a job before she would agree to marry him—even if it was just a temporary position!
These days, in order to find a job, he has been running around various companies, but not a single one wanted him. Now, seeing even the blind beggars have jobs, how could he not feel jealous? He wishes he could take Wang Jiefang's place and work here instead!
