While Lin Yao was counting the personnel, she secretly activated her mech and jumped out from the rear cabin.
As Yao Beiluo and Lin Yao were discussing, Yao Zhengqi and Tang Zhengsu had already engaged in a fight with Lei and Max's group.
However, they were outnumbered and outmatched; with only two of them, they stood no chance against Lei and Max. They were quickly brought down.
Lei stood over the two bloodied figures lying on the ground, looking down at them. "So, Yao Zhengqi, do you want to hand over the data now?"
"I've been prepared for this move of yours for a long time; how could I possibly bring the data with me? I don't have any data—just a worthless life. You can kill or torture me as you please!" Yao Zhengqi spat out blood, feeling utterly defeated.
Even though Black Porcelain Star has no resources at all, just its powerful physical training capabilities would be enough to attract competition from various factions.
Currently, the technology for traversing the Chaotic Nebula is only in the hands of the special forces. For the future of the Yunmeng Star System, Yao Zhengqi was determined not to hand over this technology.
"In that case, don’t blame me for being ruthless."
Seeing his stubbornness, Lei stepped forward and forcefully began to crush one of Yao Zhengqi's legs inch by inch.
Yao Zhengqi gritted his teeth and endured without making a sound.
"Let him go! If you have any grievances, come at me!" Tang Zhengsu couldn't bear to see Yao Zhengqi being tortured and rushed forward to intervene but was kicked in the chest by Lei and fell unconscious immediately.
"Are you going to speak or not? If you don't, then your limbs won't be safe," Lei said menacingly, poking at the leg that was already broken. He watched with satisfaction as the pain caused veins to bulge on Yao Zhengqi's forehead.
"I've already told you, I've given all the information away. If you have something to say, just kill me!" Yao Zhengqi's words were cut short as Lei's subordinate crushed his other leg.
This time, the force was even greater, shattering the bone completely. With such severe injuries, even with the medical technology of the Black Porcelain Star, there would be no chance for a full recovery. If left untreated, even if he returned to the interstellar world later, his leg might never heal properly.
As Lei's subordinate continued to apply pressure, Yao Zhengqi's limbs suffered complete shattering fractures. At that moment, his arms and legs felt as limp as noodles, utterly devoid of support.
"Are you going to talk?" Lei gripped his chin fiercely.
Yao Zhengqi spat at him defiantly.
Furious, Lei was about to crush his jaw when he was stopped by Max.
"What are you stopping me for?" Lei glared at Max.
Max showed no fear. "Can't you see? Yao Zhengqi has a strong will; torturing him is pointless."
"What do you suggest then?"
"Doesn't he have a companion? I refuse to believe that if this guy has strong bones, his companion does too. Besides, those who consider themselves righteous can't stand to see their subordinates tortured."
Upon hearing this, Lei found it reasonable and stepped back.
"Fine, I'll leave it to you. Max, I hope you can get a good result here."
Yao Zhengqi lay on the ground, enduring the pain of his shattered bones. But when he heard them discussing torturing Tang Zhengsu, he could no longer hold back.
"Lei, if you have something to say, just kill us! These petty tricks are truly despicable!"
Seeing his strong reaction only reinforced Lei's belief in Max's judgment.
"Max, make sure to torture that guy well. I don't believe Yao Zhengqi can hold out much longer."
Soon after, Max had his men bring water and splash it on Tang Zhengsu to wake him up.
As soon as Tang Zhengsu regained consciousness, he immediately tried to crawl over to Yao Zhengqi. "Old Yao, are you okay?"
Before he could take a few more steps, Max grabbed him and lifted him up.
"Ray, as a man, what punishment do you fear the most?" Max asked Ray.
"Well, for a man—especially a powerful one—after experiencing the taste of strength, the greatest fear is losing that power and never being able to rise again!" Ray replied loudly.
"Good, then I will completely destroy his foundation, ruin his mental realm, and turn him into a total waste. How does that sound?" Max and Ray exchanged their thoughts in unison.
No matter how much he tried to suppress his emotions, at that moment, Yao Zhengqi couldn't help but be affected by their words. His body was immobile, but his gaze followed Tang Zhengsu as it shifted.
Max's hand rested on top of Tang Zhengsu's head. He fixed his eyes on Yao Zhengqi and asked, "Captain Yao, do you want to preserve your teammate's strength or keep your data intact?"
At this moment, Tang Zhengsu had fully regained consciousness. However, he had little resistance left and could only struggle and scream, "Yao Zhengqi, don’t worry about me! I—"
Before he could finish his sentence, Max swiftly dislocated his jaw. Without the support of his jaw, Tang Zhengsu couldn't control his mouth; saliva began to spill from the corners of his lips.
Yet his eyes remained defiantly fixed on Yao Zhengqi, as if to convey that he absolutely would not compromise.
However, Yao Zhengqi thought about how much his teammate had sacrificed for the Yunmeng Star System—his foundation, lifespan, freedom. He couldn't let him lose even his future.
"Captain Yao, I'll give you one last chance. I will count down from three. If you don’t speak up by then, don’t blame me for ruining his mental realm!"
"Three...!"
As the final number fell, Tang Zhengsu resignedly closed his eyes. Just as Max was about to raise his hand, Yao Zhengqi shouted loudly, "Wait!"
Tang Zhengsu suddenly opened his eyes wide, red with emotion as he looked at Yao Zhengqi with a complex expression.
