Lin Yao did not rush over to kill the beasts and save the people immediately. Instead, she instructed Wang Jin, "You go find Yao Beiluo and have him organize the students from the First Academy. Those who can save others should not be left defenseless."
After Wang Jin left, she found a towering tree and climbed to the top. There, she activated her Extreme Vision to observe the energy distribution in the forest.
As soon as she opened her Extreme Vision, she saw a large group of colorful energy clusters rushing toward her from the northeast of the jungle, estimating at least one or two thousand beasts. Among the energy clusters interacting with the beasts, there were not only students but also soldiers protecting them; their energy was denser than that of the students.
Seeing that there were still quite a few soldiers, Lin Yao immediately used her psychic ability to call out, "All new students, retreat from the battle and move back five meters toward the southwest of the forest."
As she issued her command, it carried a hint of pressure, causing many students to instinctively obey and retreat.
Once the students had retreated, Lin Yao continued to use her psychic ability to direct operations. "All officers, I can see where the beasts are coming from; please follow my instructions to establish a defense line."
Lin Yao reported the positions she observed through her Extreme Vision one by one and instructed nearby soldiers to move forward to block the beasts while allowing disorganized students to exit the combat zone, facilitating the establishment of a defense line.
Finally, after setting up a basic defense line, Lin Yao retracted her Extreme Vision and psychic ability and quickly took out a body repair potion from her system space and drank it.
After finishing the potion, without time to rest, Lin Yao used vines to swiftly jump down from the tree. Her eyes quickly scanned the crowd until they landed on Yao Beiluo.
"Yao Beiluo, do you recognize the leaders from the other four schools?"
Yao Beiluo instinctively nodded. "Find them."
Soon enough, Yan Zhaolin from the Ability Academy, Zhou Yaxuan from Xingfang No. 1 Middle School, and Wen Junming from No. 36 Middle School appeared before her.
Only Wen Junming from No. 36 Middle School was arguing incessantly with others, each refusing to back down.
Lin Yao pointed at a quiet student beside them wearing No. 36's uniform and frowned slightly. "What’s your name?"
"My name is Tang Zhige."
Hearing his name sounded similar to Tang Zhuyan's, she guessed they were likely from the same family in Yanghe Star.
"You will lead No. 36 Middle School. Is there any problem with that?"
"No."
The others were still unconvinced. "Why should we?"
Lin Yao coldly looked at them, realizing that even at a critical moment, they were still vying for recognition, showing a lack of foresight. The others fell silent immediately.
Not bothering with them any longer, Lin Yao turned to the leaders of the four schools. "You all go and tally the students from your respective schools. Identify those with healing abilities and medical backgrounds, as well as those with strong combat skills and speed abilities. Also, separate the students with wood abilities and pharmacists for me."
After giving her instructions, Lin Yao turned to Yao Beiluo. "Call a few speed ability users to come help me out back; I need their assistance."
Yao Beiluo nodded in agreement.
Lin Yao knew that these students lacked experience, so the tallying wouldn't be quick. She shouted to everyone with abilities, "Those who participated in the shooting competition, step forward!"
Upon hearing the command, the students shuffled forward in a disorganized manner.
Lin Yao scanned the group, dismissing those who were injured or in poor condition. She pointed out twenty individuals who had no other skills and then called over Wang Jin. "Take out your light guns and assist the officers in stabilizing the defense line."
In this jungle for the cross-country competition, there were mutant beasts, and the organizers hadn't intended for the students to face them unarmed. Before the competition began, each student had been issued some weapons to help them survive in the wilderness.
Although light guns didn't deal much damage, as long as they could hit a weak point, taking down a first or second-level mutant beast was still feasible.
Leading the twenty selected students from the shooting competition, Lin Yao positioned them among the soldiers to help with defense. "Your light guns have limited damage; don't worry about anything far away. Just focus on taking down any stragglers that come rushing in."
She then instructed Wang Jin, "You organize these students here."
After stabilizing the defense line, Lin Yao returned to the rear.
At this point, the leaders from each school had nearly finished tallying their personnel.
"Yan Zhaolin, you are responsible for organizing all healing ability users and medical students to establish battlefield medical support. Prepare to rescue any injured shortly."
Although the defense line was established, it didn't mean everyone had retreated in time; even those who did manage to escape were still few and far between.
"Zhou Yaxuan, gather all wood ability users and pharmacists together to cultivate medicinal plants and concoct potions."
"Wen Jun, set up logistics. Later on, you'll need to deliver supplies to the front."
"Zhou Heng, organize all personnel above level four into small teams. We will rotate soldiers so they can take turns resting."
Tang Zhige, gather all the speed ability users and pick someone brave to prepare for a rescue operation in the beast horde up ahead. The rest of the speed ability users should stay in the combat zone and be ready to provide support.
Once everything was arranged and the team was mobilizing, Lin Yao turned to Yao Beiluo. "You'll be in charge here."
"What about you? You're going into the beast tide to save people?" Yao Beiluo asked, a look of concern on her face.
"Yes."
"I..."
"Once Bai Zhenzhen arrives, have her teach the pharmacists how to prepare hemostatic powder, calming potions for mental stability, ability restoration liquids, and stamina recovery liquids."
After a moment of thought, she took out a small device from her system space and whispered, "This is a mini signal station. When Yumi arrives, see if she can establish a signal. If she can't manage it, then you can organize the information technology students to give it a try."
She couldn't explain the origins of the mini signal station; it was better that fewer people knew about it. If Yumi truly couldn't get it to work, then for the safety of the students, they would have no choice but to expose it.
After instructing Yao Beiluo to manage the rear, Lin Yao called over ten capable speed ability users and pulled them aside.
"The next phase will be dangerous; I’m sure you all understand that. I won’t emphasize it further. I have only one requirement: when you hear my command, follow it without hesitation. Can you do that?"
"Yes!" they replied in unison.
Lin Yao led the ten speed ability users to the combat area. Upon hearing that they were going into the beast horde to rescue people, an officer rushed over.
"You’re going into the beast horde to save people?"
"Yes."
"That’s too dangerous."
"There should be some soldiers trapped in there as well, besides just students. Every minute they remain inside increases their risk. Some might be on the brink of death; if we don’t act now and delay any longer, they’ll be doomed."
