Upon hearing this, the attending physician did not hesitate and quickly made a call to have Lin Yao sent to the base hospital.
"Did you say that Xie Zhuo's injury was caused during your advancement? May I ask what kind of ability it is?" the doctor inquired upon their arrival at the hospital.
"It's a pupil technique," Lin Yao replied.
"Can you briefly explain its function?" the doctor asked.
"When I activate the pupil technique, I can directly see energy," she explained.
The doctor gasped at this revelation. "Then how did your advancement injure Xie Zhuo?"
"During my advancement, I saw Instructor Xie Zhuo's weakness and instinctively struck towards it. After that, I saw him collapse and couldn't get up. Then, I became absorbed in my advancement," Lin Yao admitted, feeling a pang of guilt.
If it weren't for her need to improve her resilience, Instructor Xie Zhuo wouldn't have been training with her so persistently. He had even fed her techniques when he noticed she was close to advancing. She feared that her strike might have caused irreparable harm to him, and that thought weighed heavily on her conscience.
Sensing her distress, the doctor comforted her, "Relax. Since the cause lies with you, we should find a way to resolve it together. In a moment, cooperate with me and let's identify his injury points so I can prescribe the right treatment."
"Okay!" she responded eagerly.
Soon after, the doctor led Lin Yao to examine Xie Zhuo's injuries. He was currently lying in a treatment pod, deeply asleep, yet his brow remained furrowed even in slumber.
"Is he really that hurt?" Lin Yao wondered aloud. The treatment pods in the Yunmeng Star System were quite expensive. Generally, minor injuries could be treated with just a vial of medicine. Only severe cases that couldn't be remedied by medication required a stay in the treatment pod.
"No, it's just that he looks so pained; his whole body is twitching from the agony. That's why I had him lie in the treatment pod and administered some sleep medication, hoping it would ease his suffering," the doctor clarified.
"Oh," Lin Yao replied softly, feeling a mix of concern and guilt.
"Should we open the treatment chamber?"
"If we do, will he wake up?"
"Probably not; the effects of the medication haven't worn off yet," the doctor assured.
"Then let's open it and take a look!"
As the doctor opened the treatment chamber, Xie Zhuo instinctively blinked his eyes, filled with pain. Although he quickly fell back into sleep, Lin Yao felt a pang in her heart.
Soon, prompted by the doctor, Lin Yao activated her Extreme Vision. The clarity of the level two Extreme Vision was significantly better than that of level one, allowing her to see the energy patterns on Xie Zhuo's body and the dark areas clearly.
While observing, she described the various energy distributions to the doctor. "How does it look? Can he be treated?"
"Well, it's manageable. He shows signs of energy dispersion and a bit of mental confusion."
"What does energy dispersion mean?"
"Generally speaking, whether it's supernatural abilities or physical techniques, they usually concentrate energy together or operate along fixed pathways. When the energy neither gathers nor follows its intended route but spreads out instead, that's energy dispersion."
"Is it serious?"
"It can be treated. It will just take some time."
"Do you need my help?"
"If you have time, that would be even better."
"When does the treatment start? I'll apply to the Chief Instructor for assistance."
"You don't need to stay here all day; coming for about two hours each day should suffice."
Lin Yao pondered for a moment, uncertain if her Extreme Vision could last for two hours at level two. Even so, she resolutely replied, "Alright, but I'm not sure if my ability can last for an hour."
"That's fine; it doesn't have to be continuous for that long," the doctor said nonchalantly.
"I mean, my ability might not even last for an hour in a day."
"Well, it seems like it's undoubtedly a high-level evolution."
Lin Yao realized for the first time how difficult it was to communicate with others. The ability wouldn’t last more than two hours; was that really okay?
"It's fine. Just come by when the time comes."
Lin Yao took a deep breath. "Alright, what time should I come tomorrow?"
The doctor pondered for a moment before replying, "Since you're still in training, come by in the evening. After you finish washing up, you can help with the auxiliary treatment. Once that's done, you can find a duty room here to sleep in. Get up early the next morning so it won't interfere with your training."
"Okay, please inform the Chief Instructor for me."
"Don't worry, I'll make sure to get the application approved with your Chief Instructor."
However, there was something off about this doctor; he clearly only needed ten minutes for the treatment but insisted it would take two hours.
After finishing the treatment for Xie Zhuo, Lin Yao would have to complete various tests that the doctor had prepared.
"Are you a doctor or a researcher on abilities?"
The smile on the doctor's face was somewhat lewd; one might think he was a pervert if they didn’t know better.
"My main profession is, of course, being a doctor. It's just that I encountered an ability I'm interested in and thought I might as well study it a bit. You're just sitting here anyway; wouldn't it be better if I helped you understand your ability?"
Lin Yao felt a bit exasperated. Usually, she was the one making others feel uncomfortable, but this was the first time she encountered someone even more shameless than herself.
Yet, she needed his help and couldn't afford to lose her temper.
After finishing the treatment for the day, Lin Yao said, "You’ll accompany me tomorrow to prepare the potion and help me observe the energy changes along the way."
After completing Xie Zhuo's treatment for the day, the doctor led Lin Yao to his potion laboratory.
