The First Military Academy of the First Middle Court maintained a strict management system. Three days after the new students reported, they were swiftly taken to the military training base for their training, which was part of the interstellar defense education.
Before arriving at the academy, the four-member team had familiarized themselves with the military training process. They had prepared everything they needed, storing it in their spatial storage for easy access.
On the fourth day of school, the new students were taken to the military training base early in the morning by spaceship. After disembarking, a green sign-in point appeared on the system for Lin Yao.
System: Detected sign-in point [Yunmeng Star Military Training Base]. Would you like to spend points to sign in?
Lin Yao chose to sign in.
Upon successful sign-in, she received a map of the Yunmeng Star Military Training Base and a mini signal station. At this moment, Lin Yao was grateful for the map. However, she didn’t have time to explore the mini signal station because the instructors immediately began their training without giving them time to settle in.
The instructors did not distinguish between departments or classes; instead, they grouped students based on their physical skill levels and practical exam scores into various training teams. Lin Yao performed exceptionally well in her practical exam and was placed in a top-tier team during the grouping.
In this team, besides the top-ranked ability user Yao Beiluo and physical skills champion Zhang Feng, there were several familiar faces: Zhou Heng, Wang Jincheng, and Lin Yao's roommate Wan Xiaoqi. Even Meng Xingchen, who had been considered weak in combat power, managed to squeeze into this elite team due to his physical skills.
After class assignments were made, their instructor approached them.
"Hello everyone, I am your military training instructor Xie Zhuo from the Middle Court. As part of this year's top-tier team at the First Middle Court, I will train you with the highest intensity and strictness. I hope you will all bring your best to this training and set an example for your peers in lower-tier teams!"
Meng Xingchen was the first to respond enthusiastically.
Xie Zhuo gave him a deep look: "Is it only this student who is willing to respond? Does no one else have confidence?"
Under pressure from the instructor, everyone else reluctantly echoed a response.
Taking advantage of Xie Zhuo's momentary distraction, some students shot a glare at Meng Xingchen, who seemed overly pleased with himself.
Before training began, the instructor brought over a box of gravity belts.
The fourth-level peak gravity belts were available for those above the fourth-level peak, while those below could choose from the junior-level options. Everyone was to collect their own belts, and teammates were encouraged to help each other put them on. If anyone wanted to challenge themselves, they could opt for a higher multiplier.
After the instructor finished speaking, the students of Class One lined up eagerly to receive their gravity belts. The queue was organized by strength, placing Lin Yao in the middle.
Once she returned with her belt, she intended to ask a nearby classmate for help putting it on. However, several students in front of her—Yao Beiluo, Zhang Feng, and Wang Jincheng—turned around simultaneously and exclaimed, "Captain Lin Yao, let me help you put it on!"
One person helping would suffice; there was no need for so many.
"I'll do it!" Wang Jincheng spoke up first but was interrupted by Yao Beiluo, who said, "You're too clumsy; just leave it be."
Zhang Feng wanted to step in as well but was held back by Zhou Heng, who seemed to enjoy the spectacle. "Since both of them want to help our captain, just let them!"
Lin Yao couldn’t understand why there was such a fuss over something so trivial. She turned directly to Wan Xiaoqi, who was watching with amusement. "Xiaoqi, come help me put it on!"
Wan Xiaoqi strode over and helped her fasten the wristband while teasing, "Lin Yao, your charm is so great that they're about to fight over you."
"They're just being idle. Once training starts, I guarantee they won’t even have the energy to talk," Lin Yao replied lazily as she adjusted to the weight of the gravity belt.
"You really don’t understand romance," Wan Xiaoqi shook her head.
Lin Yao moved her wrist around to get used to the belt's weight and said nonchalantly, "Ji Qingqing, aren’t you going to work hard? Besides, these young lads—are you sure they have anything romantic in mind?"
"Isn't their fierce competition because they like you?" Wan Xiaoqi asked with a hint of confusion.
"Of course not! They admire my strength!" Lin Yao declared confidently as she threw a punch that sliced through the air with a sharp sound.
Wan Xiaoqi swallowed hard. "Now I’m starting to believe they’re impressed by your strength."
As military training began, they started with basic warm-up exercises. The students wearing different multipliers of gravity belts struggled at first and performed the warm-up movements chaotically.
After much effort, they finally completed the warm-ups and were drenched in sweat.
Instructor Xie Zhuo observed this and reminded them, "I need to stress that you must adapt your bodies quickly to these gravity belts. If you can’t handle today’s basic training, then what will happen next?"
Once the warm-up was finished, they moved on to various high-difficulty equipment training sessions.
Thanks to the widespread practice of physical techniques, both men and women in the galaxy experience improvements in their physical qualities as they reach corresponding levels of skill. However, an increase in physical capabilities does not necessarily translate to effective performance in real situations.
For instance, a Level Four martial artist can theoretically achieve a punching power of around 200 kilograms. Yet, without specialized training, an individual may not be able to reach this level of force. Conversely, those who undergo professional training can exceed this threshold significantly. Students in school have an advantage over those working in office jobs, as they receive more specialized guidance and can generally achieve punching power around 180 kilograms.
As the top combat training class at the First Military Academy, all students are expected to reach a punching power of 200 kilograms. While this is a commendable achievement, the military instructors aim to elevate their performance further and are not satisfied with just meeting this standard.
A benchmark of 200 kilograms is set; those who pass can move on to the next exercise, while those who do not must continue training until they meet the requirement. For students with particularly low scores, instructors personally guide them on how to punch effectively and improve their strength.
Achieving 200 kilograms of punching power places one among the elite fighters within Level Four martial arts. Even within the military training class, very few manage to pass this test. Zhang Feng is a martial arts prodigy and easily surpasses the 200-kilogram benchmark for Level Five techniques. Others like Yao Beiluo, Wang Jincheng, and Wan Xiaoqi also meet the standard, while Zhou Heng falls just short.
Surprisingly, Lin Yao, who appears small and slender, manages to deliver a punch with nearly 190 kilograms of force. Wan Xiaoqi gathers around her in astonishment and asks, "How are you so strong?"
"Just train more!" Lin Yao replies.
This strength did not come easily; she gritted her teeth and dedicated two months of her summer vacation to training diligently to achieve this level.
