It suddenly came to a halt, gathering energy, and the grayish aura of power was about to descend upon Lin Yao. This was the moment she had been waiting for. The instant it unleashed its ability, she channeled her barely usable level of psychic energy and charged directly at its head.
Compared to humans of the same level, the combat strength and physical prowess of the beast were superior, but its psychic ability was significantly weaker. Lin Yao's strike shattered its mental ocean, causing the entire beast to freeze in place.
Seizing the opportunity, she drew her Meteor Sword and swung it down, severing the bear-like beast's head. As its head rolled to the ground, Lin Yao let out a sigh of relief, feeling utterly drained.
Her physical skills had only just reached level four, and she had just forcibly tapped into a level of psychic energy that exceeded her body's capacity, resulting in a severe backlash. However, none of them were at full fighting strength; they could not afford to linger here.
After resting briefly, she forced herself to take out a body recovery potion and drank it down. Lin Yao stored the bear-like beast's corpse directly into her system space before quickly checking on her teammates' conditions.
Meng Xingchen had only minor injuries and was recovering well after taking a healing potion. Zhang Feng was in worse shape; several of his ribs were broken, and his internal organs were damaged. Since the body recovery potion could only heal flesh wounds and could not realign bones, Meng Xingchen hesitated to give him a potion for fear that it might cause his bones to heal incorrectly, necessitating another break.
Bai Zhenzhen faced a similar issue; her leg bones had been fractured by the beast's powerful abilities. Lin Yao, possessing some knowledge of battlefield first aid, carefully repositioned their bones and fashioned splints from nearby wooden planks to stabilize them.
"Meng Xingchen, you support Zhang Feng while I carry Bai Zhenzhen. We need to move quickly. With this star-level beast dead, those other creatures might become uncontrollable."
It seemed that the beasts had been coordinated by the bear-like creature to attack the base. The four of them dared not return but could only head in the opposite direction.
As they passed the area where the beasts had gathered earlier, the system suddenly announced: "Detected [Meteorite Landing Site] check-in point. Would you like to spend points to check in?"
Lin Yao's eyelids twitched. She looked up at the golden glow of the check-in point ahead and felt a surge of excitement in her heart. Without hesitation, she chose to check in.
This was only her second encounter with a golden check-in point. The last time she checked in yielded impressive rewards; she wondered what she would receive this time.
Upon successful check-in, she obtained Star Source Crystal and Isolation Stone.
Lin Yao quickly opened her system panel:

Lin Yao opened the notes on the Crystal of Star Source and the Isolation Stone.
Crystal of Star Source (Fragments of star source left after a planet's collapse, which can rapidly evolve plants and animals under radiation.)
Isolation Stone (Isolates all energy transmission.)
Just from the textual description, Lin Yao could imagine how precious this Crystal of Star Source was. No wonder it allowed that bear-like mutant beast to quickly advance and evolve into a leader-level mutant beast.
Thinking of this, Lin Yao felt a bit uneasy; what if there were still some remnants left behind? Wouldn't that lead to serious consequences?
"Wait here for a moment. I’ll check the area where the mutant beasts were fighting."
After putting Bai Zhenzhen down, Lin Yao ran to the center point of the previous battle, where remnants of the mutant beasts' struggle remained, along with bloodstains scattered all over the ground.
Upon arriving, she activated her Extreme Vision ability and scanned the entire area. It wasn't until her ability was exhausted that she finally felt relieved, having found no energy anomalies.
"Did you find anything?"
Seeing Lin Yao return, Meng Xingchen asked.
Lin Yao shook her head. "No, that mutant beast successfully advanced and evolved. That treasure must have been consumed by it."
"Even if it was eaten, it doesn't matter since you killed that mutant beast. But this base is likely in trouble," Bai Zhenzhen lamented.
"There must be an issue; otherwise, the wristband wouldn't lose signal," Meng Xingchen added.
Zhang Feng smiled slightly and said, "So does this count as turning misfortune into fortune?"
"What?" Lin Yao was immersed in her advancement and had no idea what had happened before.
Bai Zhenzhen, with a hint of sarcasm, recounted how the two safety officers had abandoned them and fled. She added that if they were killed by the beasts, it would serve them right.
Lin Yao didn’t comment much on this. She led them to a remote safe house, deciding they would wait out the night there. When the base realized the situation was dire due to the beast uprising, they would surely report it. By then, the planetary garrison would take action and eliminate those beasts.
Sure enough, early the next morning, their communication devices were restored, and they received a message from the base. The gist of it was that the garrison had taken control of the base and was actively clearing out the beasts. They advised everyone to continue hiding and to be cautious. If anyone encountered danger, they could report for assistance.
Lin Yao thought that since they were not in life-threatening danger, she wouldn’t trouble the authorities unnecessarily. With the garrison deployed, the beast cleanup proceeded quickly, and by afternoon, they were informed that it was safe to return to the base.
Only then did Lin Yao send a message reporting that there were two injured individuals with fractures and requested assistance. Soon after, a spaceship arrived to transport them back to the base.
However, by this time, the base had transformed into a temporary military command center. They were taken to the medical department.
The doctor examined the splints on their fractured limbs and remarked with admiration that their treatment was quite well done. "Are you planning to use a healing potion or let it heal naturally?"
Natural healing was cheaper but took longer. The healing potion required a special bone regeneration agent, which was quite expensive—100,000 star coins per vial.
Lin Yao wasn’t short on money at this point but didn’t want to waste time on it. She replied directly, "Let’s go with the potion."
"Captain, I still haven’t shifted my mindset as a poor person," Zhang Feng instinctively retorted.
"What are you worried about? We’re all in this together; it’ll be covered by the team’s funds. Besides, once we get our bonuses at the end of the month, you won’t be lacking money," Lin Yao interrupted him.
The doctor then used new tools to stabilize their broken bones and administered both the bone regeneration agent and body repair potion.
