Lin Yao suddenly transitioned from extreme poverty to immense wealth.
Of course, the three-day auction of purification potions had drawn a lot of attention, causing the Mingguang Potion Shop to become incredibly popular. The potions were affordable and effective, which activated the previously dormant demand for low-priced potions. After a few days of word-of-mouth promotion, the shop's special potions and energy foods sold out rapidly. If it weren't for Bai Zhenzhen's foresight in having those basic potions processed at an external factory and stockpiling a batch, the shop would likely have run out of inventory by now.
Lin Yao only paid attention to the Mingguang Potion Shop in the beginning, but after learning about its booming sales, she lost interest. Money was only a means to an end; what she valued most was her own strength. After diligently training every day and building on her previous experiences, Lin Yao felt that her physical skills were on the verge of a breakthrough.
Improving physical skills isn't solely reliant on training; when one reaches a certain plateau, a bit of stimulation is needed to advance further. A common method is to hunt exotic beasts in the wild, using combat and a degree of danger to stimulate breakthroughs in physical skills. Alternatively, one could opt for potions that enhance physical abilities. Of course, there was also the option of consuming energy beast meat to provide a significant energy boost for breakthroughs.
In her past life, Lin Yao often broke through during battles, so it was habitual for her to choose combat as a means of advancement. Having learned from her previous deception, she decided not to search the Star Network herself this time but instead asked local expert Meng Xingchen where she could find suitable places for combat breakthroughs.
To her surprise, upon hearing this, Meng Xingchen strongly insisted on joining her for training and even brought along Bai Zhenzhen and Zhang Feng. Lin Yao thought that since they had been living comfortably for over a month, it would be good for them to go outside and train to avoid becoming complacent.
Before heading out, she decided to refine the eyesight-enhancing tea in her spatial storage into eyesight-enhancing water. Her Extreme Vision Eyes were likely a high-level mutation that required superior physical quality; thus, she wasn't in a hurry to enhance them just yet. After her physical skills reached level four, she could gradually begin improving her Extreme Vision Eyes.
The nearby safe planet, Zhangxing, was favored for hunting and recreational activities due to its proximity to bustling planets—at most half a day's journey away. It housed a massive adventure base where many level-four and below exotic beasts were kept; these beasts were relatively wild and ideal for low-level physical practitioners or ability users seeking breakthroughs.
After half a day aboard the starship, Lin Yao and her companions arrived at the Zhangxing Adventure Base. The reception area was bustling with noise and activity. Looking at the throngs of people around them, they felt somewhat dazed; it seemed there were more people than exotic beasts!
As several people were gazing around, Meng Xingchen suddenly led everyone through a winding path to a very simple reception area. The outer park was filled with places for tourists to enjoy, and the highest-level beasts there were only of the second tier. However, this was the real reception area for trial-takers, where the beasts were at least of the third or fourth tier, making it the perfect spot for low-level breakthroughs.
Upon hearing Meng Xingchen's words, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you planning to stay in the beast park or head out to a hotel?"
"We're here to train, so we won't waste time traveling back and forth. We'll just stay in the park tonight," Lin Yao replied. She wanted to instill a sense of urgency in them, as too much comfort could dull their vigilance.
Since they decided not to stay at an external hotel, after registering, they picked up the communication wristbands provided by the park and headed inside.
There were areas within the park where signals could be weak due to certain special beasts. The wristbands had an internal communication signal with built-in positioning capabilities, allowing them to locate beasts reliably while maintaining a stable signal. They also featured an emergency distress button.
"Meng Xingchen, see if there are any third-tier beasts nearby. Let's practice with them first and get a feel for things," Lin Yao instructed.
"There's a third-tier Ironhide Bull to the north. Its attack power is weaker than that of carnivorous beasts, but its defense is very strong, so it should give us enough time to train," he reported.
"Then lead the way," Lin Yao said.
Although Meng Xingchen's abilities and physical skills were only slightly inferior to Zhang Feng's, his combat prowess was evidently lower than Bai Zhenzhen's, which did not match his level.
For this training session, Lin Yao adjusted their formation. She positioned Meng Xingchen as the vanguard, responsible for scouting ahead and identifying dangers. Bai Zhenzhen took the left flank while Lin Yao covered the right, with Zhang Feng bringing up the rear.
This formation was safer than when Lin Yao had been at the front during their practical exam, allowing her to keep an eye on all directions.
Once they had all taken their positions as discussed earlier, Meng Xingchen led the way toward the Ironhide Bull. In nature, Ironhide Bulls typically traveled in groups; however, adventurer bases separated these third- and fourth-tier beasts to reduce risks.
When they arrived at their destination, they saw only one Ironhide Bull grazing with its head down. Lin Yao signaled Meng Xingchen to circle around first and scout for any other dangers or hidden threats before approaching.
Once she confirmed there were none, she signaled for Meng Xingchen to initiate combat.
Taking advantage of the moment when the Ironhide Bull lowered its head again to graze, Meng Xingchen dashed out from its side and swiftly launched several energy-infused needles toward its eyes.
Although the Ironhide Bull was raised in captivity, its innate sensitivity as a strange beast remained sharp. Instinctively shaking its head, it narrowly avoided Meng Xingchen's micro-needle attack. However, it was unaware that this strike was merely a bait.
While its attention was drawn to Meng Xingchen, Zhang Feng charged forward with a large cleaver and struck its leg. The Ironhide Bull had thick skin, and even with Zhang Feng's fifth-level body technique combined with his fourth-level strength ability, the blow only broke the surface of its skin without reaching the bone. This caused the creature to let out a painful bellow and instinctively attempt to kick Zhang Feng.
At that moment, the Ironhide Bull realized it couldn't move; its legs were ensnared by vines on the ground. To make matters worse, as it opened its mouth, a cloud of unknown powder was thrown into it. Though it had ingested a mouthful of powder, the Ironhide Bull temporarily remained standing. It summoned its strength to break free from the vines and, with a powerful push of its hind legs, charged at the person who had thrown the powder.
Just then, Zhang Feng struck again, targeting the same spot as before, causing the Ironhide Bull to collapse onto one knee in pain. At this moment, Meng Xingchen arrived as well; he launched another attack from a side angle, condensing his ability into golden needles that plunged into the creature's eyes.
Caught in a pincer attack from both sides, the Ironhide Bull could not evade this time and was struck directly in its eyes by the golden needles. It let out an earth-shattering roar, driven mad by the blinding pain. Already injured, it was no match for the four members of the Mingguang Team. They took turns attacking until it finally succumbed to the effects of the drugs and collapsed.
Seizing the opportunity to finish it off, Zhang Feng approached and delivered a final blow to its throat, bringing an end to its life.
