With a flick of his finger, a blood hole suddenly appeared in Su Cheng's forehead.
Having taken care of the matter, Chen Anlin recalled the Empress's instructions. His ultimate purpose for coming here was to find the Three-Tailed Fish Demon. He wondered how things were going with Yu Xiaoling.
In the evening, Chen Anlin stood by the riverbank and spotted a large fish swimming towards him from afar. This large fish was not Yu Xiaoling; instead, she was sitting on its back, directing it. Notably, this fish had three fins at its tail. It seemed that Yu Xiaoling had indeed found what she was looking for. The obedient demeanor of the fish demon suggested that it had suffered quite a bit under Yu Xiaoling's command.
"Xiaoling, does this fish listen to you?" Chen Anlin asked, amused as he watched her jump off the fish demon.
"Brother Chen, this fish wanted to eat me at first, but I made it suffer a bit," Yu Xiaoling replied, patting the fish's back. "It still hasn’t called you Brother Chen."
"Hello, Brother Chen," the Three-Tailed Fish Demon said in a sweet voice.
Chen Anlin nodded; it seemed that the Empress had not been neglecting Yu Xiaoling's training lately, as her strength had increased significantly.
"Brother Chen, shall we head back along the river?"
"Yes, let's go."
Just as Chen Anlin was about to leave, outside the Lin Mountain Valley sect, crowds surged. The entire Lin Mountain Valley was on high alert. The reason was simple: the Empress was coming.
Thunder rumbled in the clouds above.
The Empress stood on her treasure ship, hands clasped behind her back, gazing down at Lin Mountain Valley.
"Everyone stay calm! Our sect has an absolute killing formation. Even if the Empress herself arrives, she won't be able to break our formation. As long as we hold out until reinforcements arrive, we will prevail!"
Wei Dong, the master of Lin Mountain Valley, stood calmly before his disciples, his expression serene and his tone composed. Inside, however, he was in a state of panic, fervently praying for the arrival of reinforcements from the Xiaoyao Sect and the Shen family. They had previously reached an agreement: if the Empress caused them trouble, they would rebel!
If it came to that, he would have no choice but to flee in secret. The thought darkened his face. Yet, if he did so, it would be difficult for him to hold his head high for the rest of his life. But upon reflection, what was face worth? If he lost his life, what good was pride?
"You dare to lay hands on my imperial envoy and even pursue him? You are truly seeking death!" The voice of Wu Xixue rang out from aboard the treasure ship.
On the ship were not only skilled fighters from the palace but also elders like Yang Bingyi, the leader of the Flower Sect. As her voice echoed, some of the weaker cultivators turned pale and collapsed to their knees, spitting blood.
Everyone looked up in horror at Wu Xixue in the sky. Just a single shout from the Empress wielded such power; if she truly decided to take action, could their deadly formation withstand her?
Panic gripped their hearts as uncertainty loomed over them. The elders who understood the true strength of the Empress shared Wei Dong's thoughts—they just wanted to slip away quietly.
With a grim expression, Wei Dong quickly called out, "Your Majesty, this is a misunderstanding! The elders and disciples were dealing with Chen Anlin without my knowledge; if blame is to be assigned, it should fall on them."
As soon as he finished speaking, Wu Xixue waved her sleeve and commanded sharply, "Enough with your nonsense! Bring those people out first."
"Your Majesty, how about this? We are willing to compensate—"
"Get lost."
"Your Majesty, you are being unreasonable!" Wei Dong's voice was low and tense.
"I am the sovereign; why should I reason with you?" The Empress scoffed, raising her chin as the cannon at the front of the treasure ship aimed at their formation.
This treasure ship was a divine artifact; aside from a few individuals close to the Empress who understood its true power, everyone else was utterly clueless. They could only stare blankly at the cannon.
Beside Wei Dong, several elders decided to fight back. A middle-aged man snorted coldly, "With our deadly formation in place, everyone stay calm! We have the advantage. If we can hold on until our allies arrive, even the Empress will have to retreat!"
"Indeed," a beautiful woman nodded in agreement. "This time, we will overturn the heavens of Da Zhou!"
Boom!
The deafening sound echoed as the Empress finally unleashed her attack. The scorching breath of molten lava surged toward the formation.
The beautiful woman and the middle-aged man who had just spoken sprang into action, attempting to bolster the formation’s energy. But soon, both let out a horrific scream as their bodies were utterly shattered, obliterated by a single blast.
So powerful!
Wu Xixue sneered; this shot was equivalent to the might of a peak Foundation Establishment cultivator. What could these mortals use to resist it? Truly overestimating themselves.
Ah!
No!
The people of Lin Mountain Valley were thrown into disarray, with the weaker ones directly spitting blood from the shock. Those closest to the formation had their bodies torn apart.
Wei Dong's pupils constricted. Just moments ago, he thought the formation could hold for a little while longer, but now he realized that was nothing but wishful thinking. The formation couldn’t withstand even a single blow.
"Master!"
An elder approached him.
Wei Dong's face turned grim. "Flee! Everyone, run as far as you can!"
But at that moment, Wu Xixue arrived, flanked by disciples of the Flower Sect, blocking their path down the mountain.
"Wei Dong, where do you think you're going?" Wu Xixue said coldly.
Realizing Wu Xixue's true speed, Wei Dong no longer dared to flee. He quickly knelt down. "Your Majesty, it’s a misunderstanding! Truly a misunderstanding! Please spare me!"
At that moment, everyone in Lin Mountain Valley had lost all will to resist. Each person only harbored one thought: to beg for mercy.
Wu Xixue looked down at Wei Dong and said, "As the sect leader, you failed to manage your subordinates and bear the greatest responsibility! I hereby sentence you to death!"
