Being interrupted by Li Xuexin left Chen Anlin quite displeased. This woman seemed to be quite mature; with her strength, she should have been able to tell that this little girl was no ordinary person.
In fact, the moment Li Xuexin laid eyes on Ling'er, she knew that Ling'er was special. However, for some unknown reason, at the moment Ling'er spoke, Li Xuexin seemed to be affected by some unseen force. Initially intending to mind her own business, she suddenly felt compelled to step in and protect the little girl.
"Li Xuexin, this is none of your concern. Get lost," Chen Anlin said irritably.
"Chen Anlin, I don't want to watch you bully someone," Li Xuexin replied, inexplicably defending Ling'er.
"Miss, please don’t argue. I'm fine, really!" Ling'er looked at Li Xuexin and said, though her eyes betrayed a hint of cunning despite her words.
"Chen Anlin, look at how well-behaved this little girl is. You're still bullying her!" Li Xuexin exclaimed angrily.
At first, Chen Anlin thought Li Xuexin was simply being kind-hearted. However, after observing her dazed expression, he suddenly realized something. He looked in astonishment at the girl who appeared to be only thirteen or fourteen years old—could she be the one causing this?
Seeing Chen Anlin's gaze upon her, Ling'er stared back intently and said, "Young Master Chen, don’t you think I look pitiful? Could you show me your storage bag? If you do, I’m willing to do anything for you."
Her voice seemed not to come from her mouth but rather resonated through the soul itself, carrying a peculiar charm.
You want to control me and make me obey? Chen Anlin's gaze sharpened; this girl was not simple. Her voice had the power to penetrate the soul, compelling one to listen.
"Hmph! Bold little demon!" Chen Anlin snorted coldly. A surge of powerful spiritual energy erupted from him, driving away that inexplicable voice from his mind. Then he directed his energy straight toward Ling'er's consciousness.
Boom!!!
"Ah!" Ling'er let out a cry as she was sent flying.
"Wow!" She then spat out a mouthful of blood.
It seemed that due to her injuries, her originally cute eyes had suddenly grown much larger, resembling two fish with bulging eyes. On her delicate skin, patches of red scales appeared, reflecting an eerie sheen under the moonlight. At that moment, a wave of black mist emanated from her body.
Demonic energy!!
At this point, Li Xuexin realized what was happening and exclaimed, "It's demonic energy!" She shook her head, feeling dizzy and unable to clearly remember what she had just said or done. She had long suspected that this girl was not human, and it turned out she was indeed a demon—a fish demon, at that.
Chen Anlin sneered. "I wonder what kind of fish she is. Look at her sneaking around; could she be a Lipped Fish?"
In this realm, there were many types of demons. However, their cultivation paths were quite varied. Common demon beasts did not have methods for cultivation; they relied solely on their physical forms to grow stronger and could not take on human shapes or speak. Yet some demons, through unforeseen circumstances, had mastered certain demonic arts and learned to transform. These types of demons could take on human forms and even live among humans.
"Bold little demon, I want to see your true form! I want Mommy to coax you!" Chen Anlin snorted coldly and swung his sword.
"Please spare me!" Ling'er cried out in fear, unable to maintain her human form any longer and transforming into a large red fish.
With a whoosh, the sword energy struck her but was blocked by her thick scales.
"Hmm? Quite sturdy." Chen Anlin was surprised but didn't mind; he hadn't used his full strength earlier, and now it was time to unleash it.
Just as he was about to strike again, Ling'er cried out in distress, "Young Master Chen, please spare me! I'm just a child!"
Chen Anlin thought to himself: This little demon knows quite a bit; she's even learned how to plead like a human.
In the next moment, Ling'er transformed back into the pitiful little girl she had been before, kneeling on the ground and bowing her head to Chen Anlin.
"You little demon! Living a carefree life yet daring to provoke me—you're truly asking for it," Chen Anlin said as he raised his sword.
However, he showed no intention of striking just yet. It was simple: there were very few demons who understood the art of transformation.
Just like human cultivators, those who practice immortality must possess an immortal seed and a breathing technique to cultivate. The same goes for demons; they must learn demonic arts to progress. Otherwise, they will never be able to transform.
At best, they would remain like ordinary beasts, just a bit more robust. Therefore, it is evident that this fish demon possesses a certain fortune. The aura above her head is quite significant, marking her as a minor fortune spirit.
Chen Anlin began to entertain the thought of subduing her; having her by his side could be quite beneficial. The key point is that this fish demon seems to be a koi, which is widely known to bring good luck when kept.
At that moment, the fish demon whimpered, "My lord, I am truly sorry! I mean no harm; I just heard you have spirit stones and wanted to take a little. I was wrong!"
Ling'er felt desperate; she had initially thought to use her innate ability to briefly influence Chen Anlin into handing over his storage bag. She planned to grab the spirit stones and flee into the deep mountains, where she could become a great demon in a hundred years. However, she never expected Chen Anlin's soul power to be so formidable that it had no effect on him at all.
With no other choice for her own survival, she could only bow her head and admit her mistake.
"You think begging for mercy will suffice? You have provoked me, so you must pay the price," Chen Anlin said as he tapped his sword lightly.
"This demoness seemed to have affected me just now; how infuriating!" Li Xuexin exclaimed as she drew her sword.
Seeing this scene unfold, Ling'er cried even more heartbreakingly. She quickly hugged Chen Anlin's leg and looked up at him with her big, adorable eyes, crying out, "Young master, I truly know my mistake! Please spare me! I am willing to do anything if you let me go! I can be whatever you want; just don’t treat me like a human!"

Li Xuexin spat in disdain, thinking this was a wretched demoness.
Chen Anlin felt somewhat speechless; after all, he was a gentleman. What did she mean by not treating her like a human? People always misunderstood him!
Seeing Chen Anlin shake his head, Ling'er thought he was determined to kill her and cried even harder. "Young Master Chen, please! Look at my pitiful state and spare me! By the way, don’t humans enjoy... intimacy? I can do that!"
Chen Anlin:
This little spirit, has she been tainted by human society? Why does she know so much?
"Enough! If you keep shouting, I really might kill you," Chen Anlin said with a fierce expression.
"I won't say anything more, I promise," Ling'er quickly shook her hands.
"I could let you go, but you must prove that you are useful to me."
"Useful??"
Ling'er suddenly realized something and quickly nodded, "I am useful, I can be of help."
With that, she gritted her teeth and lifted her skirt to reveal her short legs. "Look, see?"
Chen Anlin:

Li Xuexin burst out laughing.
Suddenly feeling that her behavior was too unrefined, she had to stifle her laughter.
Chen Anlin frowned and said, "If you keep trying to seduce me, I might just make a fish soup. I've heard that fish spirits make the best fish soup!"
"That's just a rumor; I'm actually not tasty at all."
Ling'er quickly blinked her big, adorable eyes, trying to convince Chen Anlin that she was inedible.
"Alright, enough of the nonsense. I won't kill you, but you need to prove your worth."
Ling'er thought for a moment and quickly said, "I can serve people."
"I don't need a maid."
"But I can go underwater! You know, there are many treasures beneath the water."
"How many treasures have you found? Oh right, you've been hiding lately; have you discovered something?"
Chen Anlin narrowed his eyes and stared intently at the fish spirit.
Although Ling'er understood some human emotions, she clearly wasn't adept at lying yet.
Thus, with just one glance, Chen Anlin could see her guilty demeanor.
"I... I..."
"I advise you to speak up. If you deceive me, don't blame me for cooking you as braised koi."
Chen Anlin changed his tone and added, "On the contrary, if you honestly tell me what you've found, there might be a great reward for you—perhaps even spirit stones for your cultivation."
"Really? I don't believe it!"
Chen Anlin gave her a light tap on the head. "If you say that one more time, I'll really make fish head soup."
"Well, people say that beneath the water, there is a cave. The reason the medicinal herbs grow so well here, I suspect, is because of that cave. There's a strong aura of spiritual energy coming from it."
"If there's such a place, why aren't you staying there? Why come to ask me for spirit stones?" Chen Anlin asked, somewhat incredulously.
"Because there's a dragon guarding it," she replied. "This dragon is quite formidable; it's a third-grade beast."
"A third-grade beast? Lead the way."
Just as Ling'er was about to leave, Chen Anlin suddenly thought of something and said, "Wait a moment, come here first."
Yuxiaoling didn't dare disobey Chen Anlin's command. A bit anxious, she approached him. "Brother Chen, what is it?"
Chen Anlin grabbed Yuxiaoling's head and made her spin three times.
This action left Li Xuexin puzzled, prompting her to ask, "What are you making her spin for?"
Chen Anlin replied seriously, "Isn't it rare to see a koi? I heard that spinning a koi can bring good fortune, so I thought I'd give it a try."

After the spinning, Chen Anlin glanced at the top of his head.
"Hey!"
The luck really did flicker for a moment.
"Wow, it actually works!"
Or could it be that Yuxiaoling was the reason?
Unfortunately, after spinning a few more times, his luck remained stagnant.
"Forget it; relying on luck isn't as good as relying on myself."
Chen Anlin shook his head and began walking towards the location of the underwater cave with Yuxiaoling.
