Xuexin stood frozen, staring incredulously at Chen Anlin. How was she supposed to choose?
It seemed like a simple choice between two options, but was it really?
“Oh, you’re not saying anything. I guess that means you’ve chosen the second option. Let me go get someone for you,” Chen Anlin teased with a smirk, but his expression suddenly turned serious. “However, once they come over, there’s no turning back.”
Seeing Chen Anlin prepare to step out and call for someone, Xuexin panicked at the thought of being surrounded by a crowd.
“Wait a minute. So, do you want to choose the first option?” Chen Anlin asked.
“I—I don’t want to choose! Young Master Chen, I was wrong. Can you let me off this time?” The once proud young lady now found herself bowing and pleading.
“Wrong? If you’ve made a mistake, then you need to show it. Do you understand?”
Xuexin felt as if her teeth were about to shatter from the pressure of her biting down in frustration. Her resentment towards Chen Anlin had reached its peak. If looks could kill, he would have been pierced by a thousand daggers by now.
“I—I understand!” Reluctantly, in order to avoid further losses, Xuexin had no choice but to accept her fate.
“Alright, let’s focus on getting your injuries treated first.”
Just as Xuexin prepared to remove her clothing, she was surprised when Chen Anlin handed her a hemostatic pill.
Then he took out some gauze and began to clean the wound on her forehead.
This sudden display of gentleness caught Xuexin off guard.
Wasn’t he supposed to be angry?
“Take some time to recover, okay?” Chen Anlin instructed.
Xuexin’s injuries were serious; in her current state, even if he wanted her essence, it wouldn’t be easy for him to obtain it. So it was best for him to wait until she healed a bit.
To help her recover faster, after stopping the bleeding, Chen Anlin took out a drop of spiritual liquid from a small blue vial.
“This is for you.”
In order to keep Xuexin in better condition, Chen Anlin was willing to use some of his resources on her.
What kind of spiritual liquid is this? After consuming the liquid, Kexue Xin was momentarily stunned. This liquid was truly remarkable, giving her an indescribable sensation. It was sticky and had a hint of a fishy smell, which was not particularly pleasant. However, once it entered her stomach, an inexplicable force surged from the liquid, allowing her injuries to heal significantly!
It was incredible; she swore that no medicinal pill she had taken before could compare to this spiritual liquid. For a moment, she looked at Chen Anlin with questioning eyes. He had brought her so many surprises that she felt somewhat bewildered by him.
"Are you almost recovered?" Chen Anlin asked, looking down at her.
Kexue Xin gritted her teeth and lowered her head, slowly beginning to undress.
"What are you doing?" Chen Anlin frowned.
"Aren't you interested in—"
"With you looking like that, it's really unappetizing. Can't you tidy yourself up a bit?" Chen Anlin shook his head and took out some water and a dry towel from his storage bag. "Wipe yourself down; you smell like fish. It's unbearable."
"You—" Kexue Xin was so angry she couldn't find the words.
How could such a beautiful woman be rejected like this? Ha! Who would believe it if she told them?
"Hmph!"
Nevertheless, she took the towel, thinking about how she might escape later.
Meanwhile, Kexue Que was resting at the edge of a steep cliff. He took out a concealment talisman and affixed it to himself, letting out a long sigh of relief. His injuries were finally healing well enough; however, he had run out of teleportation talismans. Damn it! He needed to be more cautious now that he had no teleportation talismans left to use.
His gaze was cold as he opened the show-off system, only to find that his show-off points had dwindled to a mere few. With so few points, he couldn't afford anything.
Just then, he caught a familiar scent in the air. Someone had arrived, and he recognized this person—a gang leader from Liu City with considerable strength, reaching the fourth rank! Due to his connections as a constable, he had crossed paths with this man a few times, enough to consider him an acquaintance.
What if he were to deal with Chen Anlin?
With that thought, Kuo Que jumped out. Who was sneaking around here?
On the cliff's edge stood a middle-aged man with a scruffy beard, looking wary.
"Is that you, Jie Ge?"
Kuo Que leaped out from his hiding spot by the cliff.
"Kuo Que!" Huang Jie exclaimed in surprise, not expecting to find this kid hiding here. Behind Huang Jie were three of his underlings, all of whom were no pushovers.
Huang Jie led a gang called the Quick Blade Gang, and his three followers all had solid strength. The key was that the four of them had mastered a combined attack technique, making them formidable even against someone of third rank.
Seeing Kuo Que, Huang Jie's three brothers relaxed their guard.
One shorter fellow cursed, "What are you doing hiding here? Weren't you hanging out with Chen Anlin before?"
"Yeah, what happened? Did Chen Anlin bully you?"
Hearing their taunts, Kuo Que felt a surge of anger; he knew they looked down on him and were trying to mock him.
Endure it!!!
"Brothers," Kuo Que said earnestly, "I must confess that Chen Anlin is truly despicable. In order to fight over some spirit stones, he actually tried to take action against all of us and robbed us of everything we had."
Kuo Que cursed and grumbled. In summary, it turned out that Chen Anlin was currently quite wealthy.
