Early in the morning, the treasure ship landed on a desolate mountain outside Liu City.
"An Lin, it's time to enter Liu City," Yang Dou said, knocking on the door, her cheeks flushed.
That Chen An Lin just couldn't settle down early in the morning. And that Zhou Tong—how could she, as a teacher, behave like this?
Sigh, the world is going downhill.
Chen An Lin opened the door, and Yang Dou's keen eyes caught sight of Zhou Tong inside, looking quite satisfied as she got dressed.

And this was one of those times.

At the entrance of the yamen, many wanted posters were plastered on the walls. However, there were only a few guards left—just two gatekeepers and a group of people coming to report cases.
Listening carefully, it became apparent that there had been a series of disappearances in Liu City recently.
"Excuse me, gentlemen, please do not block the entrance while we are handling the case inside," said a rather rude constable as he stepped out.
Chen Anlin asked, "Where is the county magistrate? With so many reports, why isn't he here?"
"Who are you to question our county magistrate?" the constable retorted. "Did you come from some island?"
"How did you know?" the constable blinked in surprise.
Chen Anlin replied, "I am from the capital, and I am Chen Anlin!" As he spoke, he tore down a wanted poster from the wall.
The poster read: "Number One Criminal of Liu City: Sun Dabiao."
Upon seeing this name, Chen Anlin suddenly recalled who it was. Sun Dabiao, a demon of the Taiping Sect, was a high-ranking member of the Taiping Army. He had practiced dark arts and had undoubtedly killed countless people. Moreover, he had successfully cultivated the Blood Demon Technique and had become a formidable figure later on.
"Hmm, for the sake of His Majesty's realm, I must find an opportunity to deal with him early," Chen Anlin murmured to himself.
Then, Chen Anlin took out his imperial token. The constable dared not be negligent and explained that the county magistrate was indeed not present because there had been a murder case elsewhere.
"The incident occurred at the Zhao family," he continued. "It is said that both the newlywed son and daughter-in-law of the Zhao family have died."
"Two people are dead, and so many others have gone missing, yet the county magistrate has gone specifically to the Zhao family?" Zhou Tong questioned in confusion from behind.
The constable noticed that these individuals were either wealthy or influential and bowed respectfully as he explained, "Miss, you may not know this, but the Zhao family is the richest here. The missing individuals are merely children from ordinary families; how could they compare to the Zhao family?"
As a villain himself, Chen Anlin was accustomed to this kind of hierarchy since he was one of its beneficiaries. Zhou Tong seemed to have some gaps in her memory, which explained her confusion.
"Never mind that. Do you know someone named Li Que?" Chen Anlin asked as he looked around.
He had previously discovered that Li Que was active within the yamen, leading him to suspect that Li Que was indeed someone within these walls!
"Ah, if you're looking for Officer Li, he just went to the Zhao family with our county magistrate to investigate a case! He's quite impressive at solving cases," said the talkative constable, who was a fan of Li Que. He chattered away, sharing a lot of information.
Just half a year ago, Li Que was merely an unremarkable constable on the verge of being dismissed. However, after a near-fatal incident during an investigation, he returned seemingly transformed. Not only had his skills improved rapidly, but he also became adept at solving cases, quickly establishing himself as a valuable assistant to the county magistrate, handling particularly challenging cases.
"Alright, take me to the Zhao family," Chen Anlin decided. He wanted to meet Li Que first before heading to Sun Dabiao's hideout.
At that moment, Li Que and the plump county magistrate were already inside the Zhao residence. The magistrate, named He Lin, adjusted his old waist and walked toward the Zhao family head who had come to greet them.
"Zhao family head, please accept my condolences," he said.
"Lord He, my son died a tragic death! You must seek justice for him!" the Zhao family head replied with a sorrowful expression.
"Don't worry," Li Que reassured him. "Let's take a look right away." He scanned the room filled with people, noting several women from the Zhao family who were strikingly beautiful and graceful.
