The Devil's Curse 4: Tomb

墨書 Inktalez
One day in June 2005, two Chinese archaeologists stumbled upon the tomb of Jacques in a small hollow on the eastern side of the Pharaoh's Tombs in Egypt. 0

This sorcerer, shrouded in mystery throughout history, ultimately could not escape the probing eyes of the world. 0

Now in his fifties, Chang Annchun resolutely set out to investigate the site upon receiving the news. 0

After landing, Chang Annchun hurried to the discovery site and successfully met with the two archaeologists, one named Zhao Pengfei and the other Song Yong. 0

In a makeshift tent beside the excavation site, Chang Annchun learned from them about the details surrounding the discovery of Jacques' tomb. 0

It turned out that Zhao Pengfei had met an old man through a friend's introduction in Egypt. 0

This old man had once worked as a tomb raider in his youth and had even dared to enter Jacques' tomb. 0

Thus, Zhao Pengfei generously paid the old man a substantial sum, and under his guidance, they finally located Jacques' burial site. 0

"So Jacques' tomb has been looted?" Chang Annchun asked with a furrowed brow. 0

"To be precise, it was intruded upon. Jacques' tomb is filled with numerous intricate and dangerous traps. The old man and his companions recklessly entered and suffered heavy casualties; in the end, only the old man managed to escape by sheer luck." 0

Zhao Pengfei said with a hint of sarcasm, "Sometimes we really ought to thank these tomb raiders. Without their path-clearing efforts, we might never have been able to delve into those long-lost ancient civilizations." 0

Hearing this, Song Yong gently nudged Zhao Pengfei and said, "You can still laugh? The fact that we made it out of the tomb alive is already a stroke of luck! Don't forget about Jacques' Curse!" 0

Chang Annchun's thoughts were suddenly pulled back to events from over twenty years ago, the collective death of the expedition team and the mysterious melting of Black Head. Everything seemed to silently convey that it was indeed an unstoppable, terrifying curse. 0

Zhao Pengfei waved his hand dismissively and said, "Curse my foot! I'm living just fine, aren't I? If we archaeologists believed in such nonsense, how could we ever do our work?" 0

Chang Annchun nodded slightly and replied, "That's true. Many tombs are inscribed with vicious curses, yet they have still been breached by those audacious grave robbers, who have looted the treasures inside. As for whether those Tomb Raiders were truly punished as the curses claimed, that remains unknown." 0

"Exactly! I've never heard of any Tomb Raider dying mysteriously. Most of those curses are just meant to scare people. If you ignore them, you'll be just fine," Zhao Pengfei added, pointing at Song Yong. "At that time, he insisted we shouldn't enter the tomb but should first set up a digging system on the outskirts. I thought to myself, how could that be? Discovering Jacques' Tomb is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for us; how could we easily give it up? Even if it's a den of dragons and tigers, I would still charge in headfirst." 0

"Eventually, I was dragged in by him," Song Yong said with a bitter smile. "The tomb was constructed in an incredibly luxurious manner, remarkably well-preserved, and contained a vast array of priceless treasures. As for the corpse..." 0

"What about the corpse?" Chang Annchun asked excitedly, gripping Song Yong's arm tightly. 0

"Well, you might not believe it, but that corpse..." Song Yong suddenly stopped speaking. He abruptly slapped his neck hard and then screamed as he collapsed to the ground, desperately clawing at his neck with a look of sheer agony. 0

Seeing this, Zhao Pengfei and Chang Annchun rushed forward to support Song Yong. 0

To their horror, they noticed that his face had developed a dense layer of red spots, and where he had just slapped his neck had swollen into a black abscess that looked terrifying. 0

"This is bad! Get him to the hospital!" With years of archaeological experience, Chang Annchun keenly sensed that what was happening to Song Yong was definitely not a good omen. 0
