Andaro's thick palm unabashedly slapped against Anna's hand, his greasy smile radiating a sense of triumph, as if such an act alone could declare his control and dominance. Anna suppressed her disgust, lowering her head slightly to feign a hint of shyness, her gaze shyly darting away as she softly laughed, "Mr. Andaro, my boyfriend is right beside us; you shouldn't..."
Her tone carried a touch of coyness, and she even tightened her grip on her hand, pretending to be unable to bear such fervent attention. At her words, Andaro's laughter grew louder, his eyebrows raised, eyes sparkling with interest and satisfaction, seemingly pleased with Anna's demeanor.
"Boyfriend?" Andaro turned his head towards Pox's direction, an unmistakable smirk on his face. "That kid? I've watched him grow up; don't let his appearance fool you; I know his personality all too well!"
At that moment, Pox was completely enveloped in a sea of flirtation, looking utterly flustered. Several stunning women surrounded him, their faces adorned with enchanting smiles as they deliberately brushed their hands over his shoulders and arms, occasionally whispering suggestive remarks in sweet, syrupy tones that seemed to revel in the thrill of the chase. Pox's suit was in disarray, half hanging off his shoulder, and several buttons on his shirt had been pulled open, revealing a patch of flushed skin beneath. His face was crimson, like an animal cornered against the wall, frantically trying to straighten his clothes while repeatedly murmuring, "I'm sorry... excuse me... please let me through..."
However, the women appeared utterly indifferent to his protests; in fact, they seemed to intensify their touches and closeness amidst their laughter. Their eyes glimmered with mischief as their flirtatious voices and suggestive postures created a game that ensnared Pox as if he were a toy for their amusement, unable to escape. They leaned in closer while giggling sweetly, occasionally whispering teasingly, "Oh dear, what a cute young man! Why is he so shy?" making Pox's face turn even redder.
Seeing Pox's embarrassment only widened Andaro's grin; he wore a satisfied expression as if he were watching a comedic performance. He turned his attention back to Anna, patting her hand with pride and a hint of malicious teasing in his eyes. "Look at him! Surrounded by so many beauties yet trying to escape. This kid acts all serious on the outside but is terrified on the inside." Andaro chuckled softly, his gaze filled with mockery and derision as if Pox's predicament brought him great pleasure.
Then he shifted his focus back to Anna, curiosity thickening in his gaze as if he had developed a deeper interest in this "couple." He leaned in slightly closer, his tone probing and questioning as hidden skepticism flickered in his eyes. "Tell me more about how you two met."
His voice bore an examining weight as if he sought to see through Anna's response to uncover the truth behind it. Anna felt the piercing intensity of his gaze but maintained her calm smile while secretly calculating how to navigate this unexpected "test."
With a slight smile, Anna feigned gratitude as she began to speak. "You might not imagine how dramatic our first meeting was. It was abroad during winter when it was freezing cold and snowing heavily. My car suddenly broke down on a desolate road. My phone was dead, and I was utterly alone without any way to contact anyone. The snow kept falling harder and harder around me; all I could see was endless white."
She paused deliberately for effect, allowing both Andaro and Pox to listen intently as if drawn into the chilling isolation of her story. "I stood there in the snow for a whole hour, watching cars pass by without any stopping to help..."
She intentionally lowered her gaze slightly to reveal a trace of vulnerability and helplessness in her expression while her voice trembled slightly as if recalling that time of utter isolation still haunted her.
"Just when I was about to lose hope, a car finally stopped." Anna lifted her head again, her gaze softening as it landed on Pox with appreciation and admiration evident in her smile. "The driver was Mr. Pox. I still remember how shy he looked back then; seeing me so helpless made him get out of the car without hesitation and come over to check on me."
As she spoke, a gentle smile graced her lips as if reminiscing about that touching moment.
"Pox didn't act like everyone else with indifference; he truly was a gentleman. Not only did he comfort me at that moment but also took the initiative to contact a tow truck and ensured I got home safely while accompanying me all the way to make sure I wouldn’t run into any more trouble." Her tone was soft yet sincere; each word seemed infused with boundless gratitude towards Pox.
"He maintained a gentlemanly demeanor throughout, as if afraid to offend me in the slightest. I remember when he dropped me off at my doorstep, he was especially careful when opening the car door, worried I might misinterpret his intentions." She feigned shyness with a smile, as if the warmth of that moment still lingered in her heart.
"Later, he even helped me tow my car to the repair shop, asking for nothing in return, and only left quietly after everything was settled." Anna glanced at Pox deliberately, her smile carrying a hint of modesty and tenderness. "And that’s how I came to know this sincere and considerate gentleman."
Andaro listened with great interest, his eyes narrowing slightly as a knowing smile spread across his face. He seemed captivated by Anna's "story," drawn in by the charm of their "encounter."
Andaro burst into laughter, his voice echoing in the corner. He patted Pox on the shoulder, his tone filled with teasing pride. "Ah, Pox, you really are a man! Your father must have taught you well, haha!" His laughter held a trace of mockery, as if he were indifferent to Pox's "gentlemanly conduct," yet also reveling in the boy's actions.
As he spoke, a glint of excitement flickered in Andaro's eyes. He slowly leaned closer to Anna, his plump hand gently resting on her hand as if exerting an irresistible force. His gaze was filled with greed and aggression. His face drew nearer, his breath carrying a faint scent of alcohol, and his ambitious eyes sparkled under the light. Every detail seemed to convey his intentions; the brazen aura surrounding him made his approach feel heavy and oppressive.
Anna did not shy away; instead, she revealed a harmless smile, seemingly unfazed by Andaro's proximity, even giving the impression that she welcomed it. Her eyes remained clear and her expression calm, as if she had everything under control. She understood Andaro's intentions and could even anticipate his next move; however, everything unfolded just as she wished.
Seeing her unflinching demeanor only fueled Andaro's arrogance. His smile grew more lewd, satisfaction lacing his voice. "Miss Anna, Pox is truly lucky to know a beautiful girl like you." He feigned gentleness as he openly appraised Anna, as if trying to see through every inch of her beauty, absorbing it all with satisfaction.
Anna chuckled inwardly; her eyes subtly arched while her smile remained unchanged, as if this game had only just begun.
