Sang Qingxiao maintained a calm expression as she followed the gestures indicated by the corpse. After twisting and turning through seven different locations, she finally pried open the hollow trunk at the bottom of an abandoned bird's nest and retrieved a wooden box. 0

Once she had the item in hand, she didn't rush to open it. Instead, she rolled her eyes at the treetop and, taking advantage of the darkness before dawn, left Prince Jing's Residence. 0

She hurried along to the Small Tavern, where Misha had already started setting up shop. Xuan Yin had shed his monk robes for ordinary work clothes and sported a buzz cut similar to Misha's. He was busy with some light cleaning tasks nearby. 0

Just as he was about to greet Sang Qingxiao, she stormed past him in a fit of anger, ignoring everyone around her. 0

Li Cu jumped onto the table, wagging his tail as he said to Xuan Yin, "Don't bother her; she's angry with her elusive uncle." 0

Xuan Yin replied, "Li Cu, why don't you go wash up first? You're covered in mud, and every step leaves a muddy footprint that carries a foul odor. We have customers who will be eating at this table soon; it's quite inappropriate." 0

Taking his advice, Li Cu went off to bathe, leaving behind a trail of black paw prints. Xuan Yin followed to clean up after him. The little monk seemed to have a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder; Li Cu mischievously stomped out an abstract pattern on the floor, but Xuan Yin didn't get upset. He only nodded in satisfaction once everything was spotless. 0

Behind Sang Qingxiao's door, she slammed it shut and opened the slender box inside. Unrolling its contents revealed an imperial edict; she quickly scanned it and confirmed it was indeed a decree for succession, stating that the throne was to be passed to Prince Chen. 0

The document bore a date that indicated Prince Chen's ascension was merely a month away. Tragically, just two months after that, the third emperor of Great Jing passed away suddenly from illness. Following this, Chongjing Emperor produced an edict and took the throne himself. 0

The authenticity of this edict was questionable since the previous emperor had died rather abruptly. One thing led to another; if there were no hidden truths involved, who would believe it? 0

It must be said that Chongjing Emperor was quite skilled at scheming. Ironically, he had unwittingly ruined a promising situation that he himself had orchestrated. 0

Sang Qingxiao carefully stored the edict away and examined the plain wooden box that contained it. After some effort, she discovered a hidden mechanism inside. When opened, it revealed a crude drawing on toilet paper depicting three arcs forming a smiley face. 0

It was an incredibly simple drawing, yet Sang Qingxiao perceived mockery in that smile. In anger, she threw it to the ground and stomped on it several times until it turned black; however, that mocking grin remained etched in her mind. 0

With a fierce shout, she declared, "Sang Bai Jue! Just you wait!" 0

What nonsense about being graceful and handsome or talented beyond measure—he was nothing but a mischievous troublemaker behind closed doors. 0

In the past, when she was weaker, Sang Bai Jue had barely acknowledged her existence. Now that he recognized her capabilities, he sought every opportunity to assert his presence and tease her. 0

"Sang Bai Jue," she thought defiantly, "you're not the only one who can play tricks! Just you wait!" 0
