"Don't say I don't believe you; Qi Xiaomian doesn't believe you either. Hey! You little rascal, don't think that just because you're sneaking around, I won't notice you.
Even though your Magic Technique has surged, my fields have nearly recovered, and you can't hide anything from me! Qi Xiaomian had been following from a distance, but Li Cu had just noticed Sang Qingxiao, who had already seen through it all.
As soon as Li Cu shouted, he shamelessly walked alongside Sang Qingxiao, his ears slightly reddening as he explained, "I’m worried about you."
"Nonsense!" Li Cu retorted. "You clearly have your doubts too. Our girl is quite lazy; every time she stirs up trouble, there’s always a purpose behind it. If there’s no benefit for her, why would she bother?"
Sang Qingxiao looked at Qi Xiaomian with a half-smile. Qi Xiaomian could only admit, "Alright, I do have my suspicions and I'm somewhat worried."
Seeing the inquisitive look in Qi Xiaomian's eyes, Sang Qingxiao decided to stop holding back. "You know Prince Chen, right?"
"Yes."
"Prince Chen was the elder brother of Chongjing Emperor and Xuande Emperor. He was talented in both literature and martial arts and was seen as a potential successor by the third emperor of the Great Jing Dynasty. It is said that the emperor issued a secret edict regarding him at that time.
Unfortunately, he met an untimely death, and the throne fell to Chongjing Emperor. Later on, after Chongjing Emperor passed away, his sons and brothers fought amongst themselves, allowing Xuande Emperor to take advantage of the situation and ascend to the throne.
One of the biggest accusations against the Sang Family is the murder of the Crown Prince. Chongjing Emperor blamed Prince Chen's death on the Sang Family."
Sang Qingxiao continued to explain that the emperor had indeed left behind a secret edict which was in the possession of the Sang Family. Originally meant to be kept confidential, for some reason, news of it leaked out. The Sang Family then hurriedly sent out several messages to confuse the public.
Later on, when Prince Chen met with misfortune and the Monarch suddenly passed away, Chongjing Emperor ascended to power while the Sang Family retained this edict for public display.
Before the troubles struck the Sang Family, there were rumors about Chongjing Emperor committing fratricide and patricide; these rumors about the secret edict also circulated. Perhaps this is why Chongjing Emperor acted so swiftly.
Qi Xiaomian asked, "Did Chongjing Emperor really commit fratricide and patricide?"
Sang Qingxiao shook his head. "I don’t know. Sang Jue should know, but when I asked him before, I held no value in his eyes; he wouldn’t tell me voluntarily. Now he might be willing to share, but I don’t want to get involved with him. Perhaps by taking this trip, I can uncover some answers."
"Where are you going?"
"The old site of the Sang Family—formerly known as Prince Jing's Residence."
After explaining further, Sang Qingxiao added that Ma Wen had old ties with Prince Chen and seemed to have accumulated assets related to him as well. "If you get a chance to interrogate him, you can try to extract information from him."
Years have passed since the troubles befell the Sang Family; their residence is still regarded as an ominous place by many. Most surrounding properties have been cleared out, yet someone has secretly purchased those empty houses using multiple identities—this person is Ma Wen.
He often sneaks out at night to dig around but has found nothing so far. I initially planned to play the role of a cunning observer—waiting for him to unearth something before quietly taking it back—but Sang Jue's sudden appearance forced me to speed up my plans.
To prevent Ma Wen from interfering with my search, I had no choice but to send him to prison; however, he brought it upon himself.
"What are you and he trying to find?"
Actually, I can't say for sure, Sang Qingxiao hesitated and said. Ma Wen had been persistently searching for over ten years, and considering his relationship with Prince Chen, perhaps he was looking for that imperial edict.
