After dealing with this monster, I started operating the Tower crane machine in the control room. I have a middle school classmate who operates an excavator. When I used to hang out with him, he taught me how to operate an excavator. Although these two machines are different, after fiddling with it for a while, I managed to get this Tower crane to move. 0

The chubby guy saw the tower crane moving on the rooftop and couldn't help but feel excited. He then put on my backpack, tied himself with a rope, and climbed to sit on the hook of the crane, holding onto it tightly. He then made an OK gesture to me, indicating that he was ready. 0

I see him shaking like sift bran all over, it seems he wasn't joking about being afraid of heights. 0
Overall, the hoisting process went relatively smoothly. 0
Although I made a few mistakes in the middle, and the hook swayed back and forth with the fat guy a few times in mid-air, scaring him into cursing. 0

Finally, we managed to successfully hoist the fat guy into the unfinished building across. In no time, the fat guy sneaked out of the building, looking around cautiously and becoming alert. I went down the stairs of the tower crane and took my backpack. 0

The chubby guy smirked and said, "Hey, Xiaobai, guess what I just saw in the building? Two Zombies were getting it on, both young like you." 0

"Bullshit! Do monsters do that kind of thing?" I've gotten used to the chubby guy's jokes and dirty talk, so I didn't take it seriously. 0

"I'm not kidding, don't believe me? I'll take you up to see. In your young people's words, this is called applauding for love, right? It's really a scene of 'love to death'." 0

The chubby guy looked very confident as he spoke, with great enthusiasm and conviction. I glanced down at his shoes. I didn't know when, but he had already changed into a pair of sporty sneakers, with a trendy style that looked like something a fashionable young person would wear. 0

"Did you go over and take care of those two guys?" 0
I stared at the street across the road, chatting with Fatty. 0
"How could I? They were having a good time, I couldn't ruin it for them." 0

Fatty seemed to get more and more excited as he spoke, his voice getting louder and louder. 0
"Lower your voice, look over there," I reminded Fatty. 0
Following my gaze, Fatty looked over and saw two monsters swaying and walking on the opposite street. 0

"It's just two Zombies, we each take one, you take the left and I'll take the right," the chubby guy said as he prepared to draw his sword and charge forward, but I stopped him with a firm grip. I really didn't know what to say about the chubby guy's reckless behavior. 0

I don't know how he managed to get through these days after the disaster, relying entirely on his boldness and martial arts skills. Having a brain is of no use, and in this kind of environment, one can't last too long. I pointed to a small alley on the opposite street and said: 0

"Take another look over there." 0
The fat guy followed the direction of my finger and suddenly took a sharp breath. 0
"Gasp, holy cow!" 0

Looking from our current position, there are over ten humanoid shadows swaying on the wall of the alleyway across the street, and blood splatters on the wall from time to time. Obviously, there are quite a few monsters in that alley, and they are currently feeding. If we rashly attack and kill the two monsters on the opposite side of the street, it will surely cause a big commotion. 0

If the group of monsters in the alley is attracted out, it will be difficult for us to escape. Fatty obviously understood my meaning and stopped talking. I stared at the two monsters across the street until they walked away, then sneaked across with Fatty. 0

After observing that there were no signs of the monster coming out from the alley, we ran in the opposite direction. According to my original plan, we were supposed to head towards the Luminous Tower. However, after examining the alley earlier, it seemed that the actual situation in this neighborhood might be much more severe than I had imagined. 0

According to my current estimate, there may not be many living people left in this neighborhood. Even if there are, most are probably cats who dare not come out indoors. People like me and Fatty who still dare to roam around Main Street are considered reckless oddballs in their eyes. However, there is no other way. Staying indoors is just slow suicide. When the food runs out, there is no escape from death. 0

It's impossible for the military to come and rescue us now. We should take a chance and fight for survival. Thinking this, I glanced at the chubby guy and noticed that the carefree and playful expression he had on the rooftop was gone, replaced by a very serious and earnest look. Obviously, being locked in the cinema for so long, he now realizes that the changes outside far exceed his imagination. 0

When we passed a street corner, we encountered another group of monsters gathered together, not sure what they were up to. This confirms my previous inference, and the actual situation has deteriorated far beyond our estimates. Just as we were about to bypass the intersection, a figure fell from a residential building on the left side of the intersection, which was over thirty stories high. Then there was a loud "thud" from the ground, indicating that someone had jumped from the building. 0

Then a group of monsters pounced, the sound of frenzied tearing and low growls filled the air. It wasn't the first time Fatso and I had seen this kind of scene, but seeing it again still made us shiver with fear. Fatso stared over there and muttered quietly, "Damn, this doesn't look good." 0

"Hurry up and don't linger." I urged, pulling Fatty to detour from this intersection. When we reached Building Three Roads, we saw flames shooting up from the road in the distance. It turned out that several cars were on fire, and the fire was intense, probably from a previous explosion. 0

There are two charred bodies inside the car, and outside the car, there are several monsters with missing limbs, dancing and wailing after being burned. It seems that the owner of the car chose to detonate the car and perish with the monsters to avoid being bitten to death by them. "Sigh, another tragedy," the fat man said angrily. 0

He also wanted to go and chop to death those few struggling disabled guys. I advised Fatty to mind his own business, and then we turned onto Forward Road 2. In this situation, we absolutely cannot run onto the small roads. If we encounter a group of monsters on the small roads and get blocked from both ends, there will be no way out but death. So the roads we are taking now are all main roads, which are very wide and conducive to escape. At the same time, there are many shops along the street, making it easy to hide. 0

But the closer to the main road, the more monsters you encounter, and the more horrifying the scenes become. Like the recent incidents of people jumping off buildings and cars exploding, those are the most common. There are also instances of cannibalism among the monsters, which is too gruesome to bear. Generally, monsters do not attack each other, unless one is severely injured and the strong smell of blood attracts other extremely hungry creatures. 0

They rely on smell to identify humans and their own kind. This is the conclusion I have reached after observing them multiple times. Now, the occurrence of monsters preying on their own kind can only mean that the monsters' food supply is running short. This also implies that in this area, the number of monsters is increasing while the corresponding food source—humans—is decreasing. 0

This also confirms my previous inference. Fatty and I dodged and weaved our way, taking seven or eight twists and turns, passing five intersections, and shaking off three groups of monsters before finally arriving near the Luminous Tower. 0
