Everyone was baffled by his sudden action, exchanging confused glances.
"Chen the Boss, have you discovered something precious?" a Lone Cultivator asked cautiously, a hint of hope in his tone.
The others perked up, eager not to miss any important information. Shen Qingyue also curiously stared at Chen Li, her beautiful eyes shimmering with questions.
Chen Li did not respond but turned to look at a stone wall deep within the hall, a mysterious smile on his face. "Want to know? Follow me!"
Everyone followed his gaze and saw that the unremarkable stone wall was now emitting a faint golden light. The golden glow swirled and gradually formed a rotating vortex, an ancient and mysterious aura emanating from it.
"What is this?" they exclaimed, their eyes filled with shock and curiosity.
"The Azure Dragon Sanctum, the legendary place of the Azure Dragon Sage's inheritance," Chen Li explained with excitement. "If we enter, we might obtain the Azure Dragon's legacy. At that point, who is Chen to be concerned about?"
The golden vortex greedily swallowed Chen Li and his companions whole.
After a dizzying spin, they found themselves in an ethereal space.
There was nothing beneath their feet, and chaos surrounded them; only a jade pendant radiating a shimmering blue light floated in the center, resembling a spiraling azure dragon, lifelike and vivid.
Instinctively, Chen Li reached out and grasped the pendant.
But in the next moment, a powerful energy surged into his body, and from deep within his Divine Soul, an aged yet authoritative voice echoed: "Fated one, you have finally arrived. The Sage has been waiting for you for a long time."
Chen Li was taken aback; the sudden voice caught him off guard.
"Senior, you knew I was coming?"
The pendant flickered as if responding to his question.
The voice spoke again, tinged with amusement: "Yes. Thousands of years ago, a mysterious power brought me together with the White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise Saints. He prophesied that this realm would fall into calamity with the arrival of the Demon Prince who would seize control of heaven and earth. At that time, a fated one would appear to find me and inherit the Four Great Relics to devise a way to counter the Catastrophe."
"I have waited here for thousands of years and never expected to truly meet you."
The voice carried a sense of relief but quickly turned pleading. "Child, all these tokens are yours; hurry and find a way to stop the demon race from crossing over and restore the laws of this realm!"
Before Chen Li could process this overwhelming amount of information, four beams of light suddenly shot out from the pendant, transforming into a White Tiger Sword, a Vermilion Bird Feather, a Black Tortoise Shield, along with the original Azure Dragon Jade Pendant—together forming the Four Great Relics hovering before him.
Each relic radiated pulsating waves of energy that seemed to contain world-destroying power.
The figures of the four Saints appeared in the void; their expressions were solemn, their gazes filled with hope yet tinged with helplessness.
"Child, there are still people we wish to protect in this realm," sighed the Azure Dragon Sage as his form began to fade away. "I entrust this to you."
A hint of sadness crossed the stern face of the White Tiger Sage: "Remember, with great power comes great responsibility."
The gentle voice of the Vermilion Bird Saint flowed like spring breeze: "May you protect this realm."
The steady voice of the Black Tortoise Sage carried an air of determination: "For this realm's sake, we must not falter."
As their words faded away, the figures of the four Saints completely vanished, leaving only the Four Great Relics quietly floating before Chen Li.
Chen Li stared blankly at the Four Great Relics in his hands, a heavy sense of responsibility weighing down on him, making it hard to breathe. Damn it, all he wanted was to enjoy life in this world, so why had he suddenly been burdened with the task of saving the universe?
