As soon as the words left his mouth, the Blood Abyss Demon King’s expression grew increasingly grim. He sensed a hint of unease creeping in.
In the next moment, Chen Li slowly raised his hand and began to chant. The obscure and complex incantation flowed from Chen Li's lips, each word seemingly imbued with a mysterious power, causing the air around them to grow heavy.
"Boundless heavens, lend me your power! By this curse!"
With the final word spoken, a beam of golden light shot from Chen Li's fingertips into the blood wall. Suddenly, golden runes emerged on the surface of the blood wall, writhing like tadpoles and radiating a sacred glow.
The Blood Abyss Demon King's face changed drastically as he felt a powerful force eroding his blood wall. This force filled him with an overwhelming dread, as if it were a judgment from hell itself.
"What the hell is this?!" he shouted in terror.
Chen Li sneered, "Don't you enjoy devouring Wraiths? Then let me show you what it feels like to be consumed by them!"
The golden runes multiplied rapidly until they covered the entire blood wall. The wall began to tremble violently, emitting anguished wails as if a living creature were being devoured.
The crimson energy on the blood wall started to dissipate, revealing countless trapped Wraiths within. These Wraiths let out piercing shrieks and frantically lunged at the Blood Abyss Demon King.
"No! No!" The Blood Abyss Demon King struggled in panic but could not escape the Wraiths' grasp. They surged into his body like a tidal wave, tearing at his soul and consuming his power.
"Aah!" The Blood Abyss Demon King let out a heart-wrenching scream as his body began to twist and contort. His once-blood-red skin turned pale, and the crimson light in his eyes faded away.
Chen Li watched coldly, showing no mercy. "This is your retribution for all your evil deeds!"
The Blood Abyss Demon King's body gradually turned to ash, ultimately vanishing from existence, leaving behind countless Wraiths drifting in the air.
After eliminating the Blood Abyss Demon King, Chen Li felt a wave of weakness wash over him; breaking the seal had taken a heavy toll on him. He stumbled slightly, nearly falling to the ground.
"Brother!"
"Chen the Boss!"
The others quickly rushed over as they regained their senses.
Chen Li waved his hand dismissively. "I'm fine; just a bit drained."
"Let’s hurry up and leave!"
With the disappearance of the Blood Abyss Demon King, it seemed that the surrounding Wraiths were also freed from their bindings and swiftly scattered into the distance.
In no time at all, the Blood Mist finally cleared, revealing everything before them with startling clarity. However, the scene that unfolded left everyone utterly shocked.
A heavy, melancholic feeling instantly enveloped everyone's hearts.
Ahead, the ground was cracked, with deep ravines crisscrossing like the aftermath of a giant beast's claws tearing through. On the scorched earth, mottled bloodstains remained, and the air was thick with a nauseating stench of decay. Broken weapons and shattered armor lay scattered, silently narrating the brutal battles that had once taken place. Even from where they stood, one could see enormous bones half-buried in the soil, inscribed with ancient runes that radiated a chilling energy.
A female cultivator covered her mouth, her face pale as she nearly retched. Despite being accustomed to death, she had never witnessed such a horrifying scene.
Is this the Ancient Battlefield? Yue Shang's eyes widened in shock, while Aged's face was filled with disbelief—it was far more terrifying than I had imagined!
Chen Li took a deep breath, suppressing the discomfort rising within him. This was likely just the tip of the iceberg of the Ancient Battlefield. The true horror of war was probably far beyond this.
"Let’s go," Chen Li said in a low voice. "We need to find the Azure Dragon Sage quickly."
Upon hearing this, everyone nodded silently. The group moved forward with heavy hearts, carefully traversing the devastated land. Each person remained vigilant, fearing that past dangers might resurface.
They hurried on without encountering any further threats. However, after a long pursuit, they still had not seen any sign of the Three Major Forces.
Looking at the vast expanse ahead, a hint of confusion flickered in Chen Li's eyes. He couldn't help but turn to Xuanjizi. "Senior, do you know which direction the Azure Dragon Sage might be?"
After all, this Ancient Battlefield was enormous and expansive; searching for the Azure Dragon Sage felt like finding a needle in a haystack. If only they had a specific direction to follow.
Xuanjizi pondered for a moment before gazing toward the distant area shrouded in black mist. "Although Old Madam has never been here, she once heard from her seniors that the place where the demon race and human race connect is guarded by the Saint."
Following Xuanjizi's gaze, Chen Li saw dark mist rolling in the distance like a monstrous beast ready to devour anyone who approached, emanating an unsettling aura.
"Then let’s head in that direction!" Chen Li declared gravely as he surged ahead.
On this battlefield, although the Wraiths were numerous and Demonic Energy surged, remnants of power occasionally erupted. Their numbers were vast, their senses sharp, and their speed was impressive.
Unknowingly, the group had arrived at the junction between the Demon Clan and the Human Clan. It was a long, seemingly endless chasm, as if an invisible barrier separated the two sides. One side was chaotic, while the other was shrouded in darkness. The two forces clashed and held each other at bay, neither able to break through the other's defenses.
The energies coalesced above the rift, continuing to entangle like a silent struggle. From a distance, one could faintly see a massive dragon shadow amidst the chaotic power, radiating a greenish-blue glow.
Observing this scene, Chen Li murmured, "This must be the place guarded by the Azure Dragon Sage."
Xuanjizi and the others scanned their surroundings. Standing atop a hill, he gazed around for a moment before nodding in agreement. It seemed to be so.
Just as their conversation came to an end, Shen Qingyue voiced her confusion. "If this is indeed the place guarded by the Azure Dragon Sage, then why haven't we seen anyone from the Holy Spirit Palace, Heavenly Dao Sect, or Golden Sun Sect? Shouldn't they be here?"
Chen Li was taken aback by her words. The members of the Three Major Forces had arrived here before them; yet they had raced through without stopping and had not encountered anyone from those factions. It was as if they had vanished without a trace.
As Shen Qingyue pointed out, it truly shouldn't be this way. After all, this was the location of defense; Chen Ming had confidently claimed he would seek out the Azure Dragon Sage's token, but now they hadn't even seen a ghostly shadow—this was indeed strange.
The expressions of Xuanjizi and the others grew serious in an instant. They too recognized the same troubling issue. An ominous premonition began to spread among the crowd. If the members of the Three Major Forces were not here to search for the Azure Dragon's relic, then what were they really after?
