Looking at the seemingly bottomless Heavenly Guardian Beast before him, Chen Li felt a mix of excitement and heartache. He had thought that taking out his treasured Celestial Gold would at least keep this little creature quiet for a while. To his surprise, not only did it gulp down the medicine in one bite, but it also stared at him with eager eyes, as if anticipating its next feast.
In just a short time, most of the medicine he had brought out was devoured. At this point, even the supplies that Shen Qingyue had given him were nearly gone.
"Are you a bottomless pit? So much medicine, and you don't even need to digest it? You still want more?" Chen Li looked at the porcupine-like creature in disbelief.
The next moment, two tears welled up in its big, watery eyes, making it look extremely wronged and pitiful.

"Mm." The Heavenly Guardian Beast seemed to grasp his meaning. It tilted its head thoughtfully and then opened its mouth to expel a misty white orb of light.
Inside that orb was unmistakably Chen Li's Divine Soul essence!
Seeing this, Chen Li was overjoyed and quickly reached out to catch the glowing orb. After examining it closely, he found that his Divine Soul essence was intact, floating within the formless sea of divinity without any sign of merging with the little creature. His astonishment deepened.
Now he was completely certain that this little being could indeed understand him.
"Since you can understand me, then this will be easier," Chen Li thought as an idea formed in his mind. He transmitted another message to the Heavenly Guardian Beast: "Little one, would you be willing to merge my essence with your Divine Soul? I have plenty of delicious treasures here; I guarantee you'll eat well every day."
Chen Li spoke like a persuasive merchant trying to entice a customer.
Upon hearing this, the eyes of the Heavenly Guardian Beast lit up. It glanced at Chen Li, then at the storage bag in his hand, seemingly weighing the pros and cons.
Its clear eyes appeared to sense some underlying scheme, causing it to hesitate significantly. Observing the little creature's reluctance to agree, Chen Li decided to sweeten the deal further with his Divine Soul.
"Follow me, and not only will you enjoy delicious food, but you'll also travel the world. With the vastness of the universe, you can go anywhere you like."
The Heavenly Guardian Beast was clearly intrigued. It flicked its finger at a drop of Chen Li's blood, and the Divine Soul circled around it, unable to resist any longer.
Seeing this, Chen Li's heart raced.
He maintained his rhythm and continued to coax gently, "Little one, think about it. If you don't come with me, there will be stronger Cultivators who will definitely capture you and won't give you anything to eat! Without good food, how pitiful that would be."

"Of course, I'm going to sign a contract with you!" Chen Li replied matter-of-factly. "Don't worry; I won't treat you poorly."
"A contract? What's that? Is it tasty?" The Heavenly Guardian Beast asked curiously.
Chen Li felt speechless; this little guy was truly a foodie!
However, such an innocent divine beast would be a shame not to take under his wing!
He patiently explained, "A contract is a kind of connection. Once we sign it, we'll be able to be together anytime and anywhere. Whenever you want something to eat, I'll provide everything you desire. Of course, in return, if I encounter danger, you'll have to help me fight. How does that sound?"
The Heavenly Guardian Beast tilted its head in thought. It seemed to find Chen Li's reasoning quite sensible and then extended its paw to press down on the Contract Scroll.
Seeing this, a proud smile spread across Chen Li's face.
He bit his finger and let a drop of blood fall onto the Contract Scroll.
Immediately, golden light erupted from the scroll as countless mysterious runes appeared, enveloping both Chen Li and the Heavenly Guardian Beast.
The contract was formed; from now on, you are my partner! Chen Li looked at the furry little creature covered in spikes and nearly jumped for joy.
"Partner?" The Heavenly Guardian Beast tilted its head innocently at him, seemingly not understanding the meaning of the word.
It had no idea that it had been cleverly tricked by this sly fellow without even realizing it.
Chen Li happily infused the contract into their divine seas and explained without missing a beat: "It means friend—like good brothers!"
Chen Li's smile was so wide it seemed ready to bloom.
Looking at the little fellow who had already signed the contract, Chen Li felt a surge of happiness.
Right, I haven't given you a name yet. How about I come up with a cute name for you?
The little creature, completely unaware that it had fallen into the trap of a cunning little fox, nodded excitedly.
Chen Li's mood brightened, and he felt a bit more patient. "You have spines all over, so how about we call you Hedgehog?"
Hedgehog? The Heavenly Guardian Beast tilted its head in thought, seemingly pleased with the name. It then circled around Chen Li and said in a sweet voice, "Okay! Hedgehog!"
Chen Li looked at the innocent little creature before him and felt his heart bloom with joy. He never imagined that he would end up capturing—oh no, befriending—a Heavenly Guardian Beast in this manner!
"Hedgehog, let's go! I'll take you out for a spin!"
With a flash of divine energy, Chen Li suddenly opened his eyes wide.
Getting recognized by the Heavenly Guardian Beast was much smoother than he had anticipated. This was something he had to brag about to Tai Xu Zhenzi and Xiao Yue'er!
Meanwhile, Tai Xu Zhenzi and Shen Qingyue waited anxiously for Chen Li's outcome, their expressions filled with worry and tension, fearing something might go wrong.
Shen Qingyue leaned closer to Chen Li's face, and in the next moment, Chen Li suddenly opened his eyes wide.
