Chen Li felt somewhat swayed and excited by Tai Xu Zhenzi's words. He immediately stopped being polite and let his Divine Soul power surge again, forcefully pressing his blood essence toward the Heavenly Guardian Beast's forehead.
Chen Li's Divine Soul power transformed into a blood-red lightning bolt that slammed against the invisible barrier like a mud cow entering the sea, creating not even a ripple.
"Damn! This little thing is quite tough!" Chen Li couldn't help but curse. The Heavenly Guardian Beast looked harmless, yet its defense was astonishingly strong.
"Ancestor, don't lose heart! The Divine Soul barrier of this Heavenly Guardian Beast is inherently stronger than that of other beasts. It's normal for your first attempt to fail," Tai Xu Zhenzi comforted from the side.
Chen Li shot him an annoyed glance. "Old man, spare me the sarcasm! If you're so capable, why don't you give it a try?"
Tai Xu Zhenzi cleared his throat awkwardly and floated aside, not daring to speak further.
Taking a deep breath to calm his restless emotions, Chen Li thought to himself that there was nothing in this world he couldn't handle!
"Blood Flame Divine Needle Technique!"
Chen Li shouted lowly as his Divine Soul power ignited, transforming into countless blood-red divine needles as thin as cow hair that rained down toward the Heavenly Guardian Beast's forehead.
However, just as the blood-red needles were about to touch that layer of barrier, a golden light suddenly shone from the beast's forehead, forming a golden shield that blocked all the divine needles.
"What the hell! Does this little thing also have a Golden Bell Shield or something?" Chen Li could no longer contain himself and exclaimed in shock.
Tai Xu Zhenzi also looked astonished; in all his years of living, he had never seen such an unusual defensive technique.
"I refuse to believe this!" Chen Li's temper flared up as his fighting spirit intensified. After all, he was born with a system that made him strong; he refused to believe he couldn't handle a mere cub!
Even if this little creature was made of iron, it couldn't possibly have no flaws at all!
Closing his eyes, Chen Li released all his Divine Soul power and repeatedly attempted to search for any weaknesses in the little creature's defenses.
But as time passed second by second, the little creature's defense remained as solid as an iron wall.
His Divine Soul attack not only failed to have any effect, but even his defensive barrier was on the verge of being gnawed through. That little creature, however, seemed tireless, blinking its big innocent eyes with an added sparkle of excitement and joy.
Chen Li felt as if his head was about to explode. The excessive consumption of Divine Soul energy left him seeing spots in front of his eyes. Damn it, how could this little beast have such strong defenses! Chen Li couldn't help but mutter a curse under his breath.
With a system at his disposal and being the protagonist by birthright, he couldn't even handle a small beast—what a joke that would be if anyone found out!
Tai Xu Zhenzi's lingering soul was anxiously pacing nearby, unable to help but also too afraid to step forward. He kept murmuring, "Ancestor, you must hold on! This is a Heavenly Guardian Beast! If we can subdue it, wouldn't we rule the world?"

The Heavenly Guardian Beast let out a satisfied burp and licked its lips as if it genuinely enjoyed the taste of those talismans.

It was in that instant that his barrier regained its protective strength. Chen Li felt as if a bolt of lightning had struck his mind, instantly making him incredibly alert. A glimmer of inspiration flashed in his eyes as if he had grasped something crucial, and he suddenly slapped his thigh.
I got it! Chen Li's eyes sparkled with excitement as he murmured to himself: Perhaps I can give this method a try!
