Chen Li was feeling somewhat bewildered by the Fuzzy Ball. He had prepared himself for a battle with this creature, but he never expected things to turn out like this. After all, the little thing's eyes and its clumsy demeanor did not seem to match the formidable reputation of a divine beast.
"Now!" Tai Xu Zhenzi shouted, "Quick, drop your blood into its forehead!"
At that moment, Tai Xu Zhenzi's voice snapped Chen Li out of his daze. Not daring to hesitate, Chen Li bit his finger and forced out a drop of blood, flicking it toward the Heavenly Guardian Beast's forehead.
Just then, the Heavenly Guardian Beast seemed to sense a threat. A glimmer flashed in its eyes as it opened its small mouth wide, revealing sharp teeth. It was enveloped in golden light and charged at Chen Li.
Though the Heavenly Guardian Beast appeared silly and cute, the power it unleashed was far from weak. If it bit him, he would likely be left with nothing but scraps. As the little creature rushed toward him, the space around him felt as if it were being compressed, making his body feel heavy and difficult to move.
What the hell! This little guy looks harmless, how did it suddenly become so powerful? What kind of monster is this? Why can't I move!
Chen Li cursed inwardly as his vital energy surged wildly within him, yet it seemed ineffective. The little creature was getting closer and closer.
"Brother!" Shen Qingyue's expression turned serious as she sensed the danger. She immediately activated her vital energy, attempting to rush over to help.
But it seemed the little creature was aware of her intentions; it glanced at her with innocent eyes. That glance appeared ordinary, yet Shen Qingyue felt as though countless chains had sealed off the void around her. Even when she exerted all her strength and released her final trace of Empress pressure, she could not break through this oppressive force.
Damn! This little thing is so powerful! Shen Qingyue cursed inwardly but could only watch helplessly as the Heavenly Guardian Beast lunged toward Chen Li.
Her body felt as if it were stuck in mud; she couldn't move at all. Even if she wanted to rush over to help, she found herself utterly powerless.
Old man! Think of something and come help! Chen Li shouted at Tai Xu Zhenzi as he saw the furry creature about to pounce on his face.
Tai Xu Zhenzi was equally bewildered. In all his years, he had never encountered such a bizarre situation. The Heavenly Guardian Beast was only the size of a palm, yet the pressure it emitted was more terrifying than any divine beast he had ever seen!
He was merely a Divine Soul; how could he possibly help?
Tai Xu Zhenzi stammered for a long time but couldn't manage to say a single complete sentence.
In this situation, how could he have seen anything like it before, and how could he possibly help? Chen Li cursed inwardly, realizing he was truly losing his mind for even thinking of relying on a remnant soul. He let out a heavy sigh, no longer placing his hopes on Tai Xu Zhenzi.
But just then, the remnant soul of Tai Xu Zhenzi transformed into a beam of white light and rushed towards him. The weak Divine Soul began to tremble slightly as it approached the terrifying pressure. Aged's voice then rang out: "Ancestor, Old Madam, I’m really risking my life this time. Once you complete the contract with this Heavenly Guardian Beast, you must help Old Madam in the future!"
Chen Li watched as Tai Xu Zhenzi's frail Divine Soul acted so recklessly, and his eyelids twitched in response. The old man had truly lost his mind! He thought it impossible for this old fellow to take such a risk to help him; after all, with Tai Xu Zhenzi's weak Divine Soul, it would likely be obliterated before even getting close.
Yet unexpectedly, he really did rush over. How could an old man who was nothing but a wisp of a remnant soul possibly help him? How could someone who had lived for so many years not understand his sarcasm?
For some reason, a hint of emotion surged within Chen Li. This old fellow…
In a moment of desperation, a flash of inspiration struck Chen Li's mind, and his eyes brightened instantly. He remembered! He almost forgot about the Mystic Shield Barrier he had obtained from Tong! Without hesitation, he focused his thoughts, and a translucent shield enveloped him in an instant.
Almost simultaneously, the Heavenly Guardian Beast crashed violently against the Mystic Shield Barrier. Bang! With a muffled sound, that little creature was abruptly halted, its swaying body plummeting downwards.
Seeing this, Chen Li felt a surge of joy and let out a sigh of relief, secretly exclaiming that the Mystic Shield Barrier was indeed impressive! However, before he could revel in his victory for too long, that little creature flapped its wings again and took off, its sharp teeth cracking against the shield with an agonizing sound that made one’s teeth ache.
Chen Li felt a surge of panic. This little creature appeared harmless, but its bite was surprisingly fierce. He quickly focused his mind to check the status of the Mystic Shield Barrier.
To his shock, he found that the layers of protection on the Mystic Shield Barrier had been gnawed down to a frail state. If this continued, it wouldn't be long before the barrier would be completely eaten through. This realization made Chen Li's expression turn grave.
At that moment, the previously weak Divine Soul of Tai Xu Zhenzi looked on in astonishment at the Heavenly Guardian Beast, disbelief etched on Aged's face. "You possess such powerful defensive techniques?"
Chen Li rolled his eyes. "You should know who you're dealing with. If I didn't have some means of self-preservation, do you think I'd still be alive?"
As he spoke, he kept a wary eye on the small creature that was still frantically gnawing at the shield. It might not be large, but its teeth were formidable. His Mystic Shield Barrier was impressive, but it couldn't withstand this relentless assault for long.
"Old man, think of a way to deal with this little beast! How can we subdue it?"
The weak Divine Soul of Tai Xu Zhenzi flickered around Chen Li like a candle in the wind, ready to extinguish at any moment. He stared at the small beast that was madly biting at the shield, and Aged's face was filled with concern. After a long pause, he finally spoke: "Ancestor, at this point, there's only one perilous path left to take."
Chen Li exhaled in frustration. "Old man, if you keep holding back information, once this barrier is breached, we'll both be done for!"
"Calm down, Ancestor; Old Madam is just thinking of a solution!" Tai Xu Zhenzi coughed twice and continued, "This little creature is no ordinary beast; it possesses innate divine strength and is impervious to blades and bullets. Even at its peak, Old Madam wouldn't dare provoke it lightly!"
Upon hearing this, Chen Li grew anxious. "So you're telling me to provoke it? Isn't that like asking for trouble?"
